Chapter 4: Are these dreams real?
Kaelah's POV:
Yesterday had kept me tossing and turning thinking about the possibilities of whom Vincent actually was. I must have known him somewhere because his name, Vincent Jackson, had appeared in my dream.
It was early nine o’clock in the morning and the sun was already shining brightly through the window evilly burning a whole in my back while I sat up. My back cracked rigid and tired because of the earlier night. I still hadn’t been able to get the faceless man from my head the whole night still wondering if that was the Vincent I had met in the hospital. They could’ve been different, right? I mean there were many people with the same name..
Squeaking as it opened, Kale and my mom walked through and trailing along behind them was the doctor from yesterday that looked like he was annoyingly awakened by something really disturbing. I knew it was my mom screaming at his ears early in the morning. She used to always yell at me to wake up and even resorted to throwing ice-cold water on me along with blocks of ice cubes. That had left me exasperated with her for weeks.
Kale and mom rushed over to me with anxious, worried frowns gracing their features. Kale looked like he had slept finer than he had for weeks probably because of me. He had always been overprotective, so I knew me being hurt had kept him up nights on end.
Knowing they were looking at the bags under my eyes and my chapped lips, I told them I was fine. And after a lot of reassuring, they stopped asking and the doctor explained that I would be able to take off my cast today and leave. I just needed to have a check up two weeks later.
2 hours later and I was waltzing my way out to the car exctied that i would be able to leave. Along the way, I had seen Vincent strolling down the hallways and when he caught my eye, he smiled and waved. His eyes traveled to the left of me where Kale was talking to my mom unaware and his eyes grew like big gigantic saucers. Vincent literally disappeared into thin air. I don’t know what that was about, but surely I would see him again since we went to the same school like he claimed right?
After arriving at humble abode of my home, I remembered all the fun memories I shared with my friends, mostly Kale. I recognized the burn mark on the couch that was after we played with lighters and cans of axe. We were grounded for weeks for that. Smiling at the thought, I headed to my bedroom with Kale trailing behind.
Once in my room, I turned around to meet his stare, my overly long brunette locks of hair swaying along with the slight movement. He stared at me uncertainly, knowing I was going to ask questions. If I could, I would say that there were gears in Kale’s head ticking right now.
“What lead to the car crash?” I said narrowing my eyes daring him to lie. One glance at me and he knew that he wouldn’t be able to get out of this. Ever since we left the hospital, he had stayed quiet the whole time in the car and I knew it was something big.
“Well, you were driving your car, and then you went pass a red ligh-“
“I don’t want to know how I crashed. What event that was so drastic that made me so reckless?”
