Chapter 6

Kaelah's POV

“Kale, nooooo. You have to let me go!”  I whined while trying to get past Kale’s arm that was blocking the escape route of this darn house.  In my hands, were the keys that Kale had given to me for the new car he purchased for me.  It wasn’t fair that he was rich because his parents were well-known surgeons and he didn’t have to do anything.  Instead he has all the free time on his hands to ‘babysit’ me and annoy the hell out of me.

“Nuh uh uh, your mom told me to keep you in here and plus, you probably don’t even remember how to drive a car.”

“Then why did you even buy me a Lamborghini Gallardo in the first place? Are you trying to kill me with temptation?  And also I learned how to drive a car before I was in the accident, so HIYA.” I gave out a war cry and kicked him where the sun don’t shine.   Kale’s godly face contorted into a pained expression as he gave out groans of pains.  Falling to his knees, I ran past him snickering evilly.

“AT LEAST WE KNOW YOU’RE NOT A GIRL.”

Jumping into my precious car, carefully of course, I turned the ignition on hearing the engine purr to life.  Without putting my seatbelt on, I stomped my foot on the gas pulling off the curb and into the small streets of my neighborhood.  The adrenaline rush was exhilarating; this feeling was just… great.  My eyes flickered to the side mirror and I could see Kale standing at the stop where the car was just parked kicking our mailbox, really hard.  Ouchh, that was going to hurt.

So here I am, just driving around, to nowhere.  Where am I going anyways?  I need to go to an air conditioned place because it’s scorching hot out here. Yes, I am in an air conditioned car, but who wants to chill in a car bored out of their mind.  Yes, only losers.

Blurs of green swooshed past as the car vroomed faster and faster.  Looking around, it seemed like there was nothing but forest green here and there and everywhere.  I live in Florida, one of the hottest place on the universe, and there is nothing to do.   Swimming!

Here was the problem: I never learned how to swim.  The only body of water I swam in was my bathtub and it was 1.5 feet deep.  When I was young, Kale used to tease me about sharks being in the water, and I never got around to swimming.  Maybe I learned it and I forgot?

My eyes glazed over the waves of the sea that rippled everytime the wind blew against it’s rich skin.  It sparkles bounced off the small waves hurting my eyes.  It looked so beautiful that I must have been crazy to not ever come here when I was living in a state where 75% of the tropical state was surrounded by water.  Spotting a secluded place on the beach, I walked there from my car after switching the alarm on.

Walking closer and closer, I shivered when the cold beach water reached my toes.  The deeper I got, the more I felt like the world was mine and it was under my control.  My foot just kept taking step after step, deeper and deeper.  I stopped when the water came up to my neck and was on the tips of my toes.  My lips were stretched into a full blown smile now as my hands whooshed around in the water.

Being out here in the water feeling weightless, made it seem like my problems vanished, evaporated.  Right now, I’m just concentrating the bliss that I feel right now, right here.  I couldn’t feel any emotions or hatred coursing through me; all I felt was a peacefulness.
