Air

Chapter 5

I open my eyes and see myself surrounded by Kraang droids. I look around. How did I get here? I stand up and try to walk forward, but I get stopped by glass. I move my hands, feeling it. I'm surrounded. I look below me to see water rising. I gasp as I punch the glass. "Help!" I yell. I bang my foot against it, but its no use. The water goes up to my jaw line and I press my face to the roof, gasping for air. I go under and dark spots come into my sight, until I can't see anything at all.

I wake up with sweat on my face and me gasping. It's the dream I've had ever since my mom died. My biggest fear. Drowning. I touch my palm to my forehead and walk to the bathroom. I splash cold water on my face and look at my reflection. I look like I HAVE been in water I'm sweating so much. I pick up a towel and wipe the sweat off my face. Once I cool off, I walk to Donnie's door. I don't want to sleep alone tonight, in too afraid. I knock quietly so I won't wake anyone else up. Donnie takes his time opening the door, and has his mask off and droopy eyes when he does. "Yes April?" he asks quietly. I bite my lip. "C-can I sleep with you tonight?" I ask. He raises a "brow" "I-I had a bad dream" I say, ashamed. I sound like a six year old. He smiles and lets me In. I climb in his bed and cuddle up next to him. He plays in my hair and I fall asleep.

The next morning I get up before Donnie. I move out from under the covers carefully, so I don't wake him up. I walk to the bathroom and take off my clothes. I get in the shower and turn on the hot water. Once I finish showering, I put on a yellow t-shirt and some sweat pants. I braid my wet hair and step out of the bathroom. I walk to the kitchen to see Leo already there. "Morning April" he says. I smile as a response and open the fridge. I pull out milk and grab a bowel. I look around for the cereal, but discover Leo had it. I snatch it from him and pour it in my bowel. "I wasn't done with that" Leo protests. I smile. "And I haven't gotten any! share!" I say, handing it back to him. I sit down and see Donnie come in. "Morning you two" he says. I smile and take a bite of cereal. Leo pulls out his laptop and starts pulling up the guys' file. He starts looking at something I'm unfamiliar with. "What's that?" I ask. "The Kraangs' plan. We got the information the day Donnie stayed with you." He says. "Well, what's their plan?" I ask. "They're still after you. But they've learned some of your biggest secrets-" "what how?!" I interrupt him. "That's just it! i don't know" he says. "What do they want with me?" I ask worriedly. "I don't know. But whatever they want, they're coming soon." "H-how can you be so sure?" I ask. "Bc this is there latest profile. And if you translate the Kraang language, it says. 'Final phase of Operation April O'Neil'" he says. My breath speeds up. "But we'll protect her!" says Donnie. "I don't know if we can, look at all this technology they've developed" Donnie looks at the computer screen and his face grows worried. He looks at me with a sad expression, then angrily storms off to his room. I look at the tech. It's a giant glass take and a arrow points to the bottom with a label. It reads.

"Water jets"

They know my fear. And that's why Donnie is angry. I told him about my dream and he knows how this is going to go down. And all I know is that it's gonna end badly.
