Hey guys! Go and listen to Wicked Game by Stone Sour. It's an amazing song and I was listening to it when I wrote this chapter. It just kinda set the mood for this chapter.
Chapter 10
Josh's POV
The next two weeks nothing changed within Alexa. I still haven't heard her say more than ten words.
She wakes up, eats breakfast, then goes to train. She still fights and trains the same way except, she doesn't really speak. Cameron makes the commands for her she just demonstrates and teaches them, like always, except she's not yelling at them like she used to.
She eats lunch and then goes and sits on the porch swing outside that faces the backyard. She just sits there for two - three hours. Sometimes she draws, but mostly she just sits there and looks around at whats around her.
She then sits in the living room for one hour. That one hour is usually when most people are watching tv or a movie. When dinner is announced, she eats dinner, and then goes to her room.
She'll take a shower and then sits on her window seat, usually drawing and then goes to bed.
All of her movements are robotic like, but yet they're graceful. Everywhere she goes I'm with her. She doesn't acknowledge me, but she's still doesn't make any gesture for me to leave, which is more progress than what I had two weeks ago.
She doesn't speak to me, look at me, or anything but it still calms my wolf for her to be by our side.
Now the whole Lucas thing. Well he started to back off once I went crazy on him. So at least I don't have to worry about him any more.
Right now me and Alexa where sitting on the porch swing. Just enjoying the view and nice breeze. She had her sketch pads out and had a charcoal pencil in one hand and a red pastel in the other, and seemed to be really into what she was working on.
I looked over and saw it was a child around the age of two or three, still very young. The child was beautiful; fiery red flames for hair, and bright blue eyes, that shined like stars. She looked exactly like a mini Alexa except for the piercing blue eyes.
I then realized she was sitting in someone's lap. I looked at the rest of the drawing and saw that the man looked exactly like me. Then it dawned on me.
That was OUR child.
I looked over to see Alexa looking down at her feet with a slight blush on her cheeks. She blushed! That means she felt embarrassment!! She felt an emotion.
She looked up at me slowly, and when our eyes met, I couldn't help but smile. Her eyes looked almost like they used to. The sparkle wasn't there but there was less black.
I brought one hand to caress her check and brought her face towards mine. We where only about half an inch away, our noses almost touching. This was it. This was the time for me to tell her. Maybe it would help bring her out of her stupor. Maybe, just maybe.
"Alexa, I love you," I said while I closed that small distance between our lips, and kissed her. I kissed my mate, the love of my life. She didn't make any movement to stop it but didn't respond, so I pulled away.
She still had her eyes closed when I opened mine to look at her reaction. She slowly opened her eyes and she smiled! She actually smiled!
I quickly jumped up with the biggest smile possible and said, "Stay here, do not drop that smile! Please!" I then ran through the door and started to shout, "Cameron! Mark and Lauren! (Alexa's parents) Come quickly!!" I then ran back outside to see that Alexa was still smiling and her sparkle in her eyes was back.
Cameron and her parents rushed outside and stopped dead in their tracks when they saw that she was smiling, and her eyes where back to normal. Cameron was the first to speak up, "Is she back to normal?"
I looked at Alexa and looked back to Cameron, "No. But I think I can get her back." Cameron's smile lit up his whole face and he attacked me into a big hug, repeating 'Thank you' again and again. And then did the same to Alexa except he was repeating, 'I love you,' over and over again.
Her parents pulled me into a hug and said 'Thank you and that they needed to talk to me later,' I nodded my head and continued to smile at my beautiful mate, as she smiled at her family.
She never spoke, but was doing more that she had been doing, and that's progress.
We where in her room laying on her bed. I was sitting up leaning against the headboard, while she was sat between my legs, her back leaning against my chest. She had her art pads out and was working on some flowers.
I watched her beautiful, precise, movements, and realized that Lex was really, really good at drawing and painting. All her strokes where perfect and graceful.
I didn't want to push my luck, but I still asked, "Can I look at all your drawings?" She didn't reply, she just turned the book to the first page. The first page was of some wolf pups playing in the backyard, playing without a care in the world. The detail work was amazing.
She flipped the page and it was a picture of Alexa, her flaming hair and bright red eyes. She was in front of many people, which made me come to the conclusion that she was training. Which is what she loves most to do. Everything was in bright colors, and looked so real.
I placed my chin on her shoulder so I could get a better look of her pictures, and wrapped my arms around her waist.
She turned the page and it was of herself and in the same format as the picture before. Except her hair was a dull charcoal black color and her eyes where all black. And instead of being in color like the last picture. Everything was in black, white, and greys.
This must be what it feels like to her now, black and empty.
Lifeless.
I kissed and shoulder softly and whispered, "I will get you back to normal Alexa," with determination in my voice. She just shrugged and turned the page.
It was of me and her, on the favorite porch swing of hers. My arm was slung around her shoulder holding her close to my body, and she was snuggled to my side.
The whole picture was made of soft pastels and was absolutely beautiful.
"They're beautiful, baby," I told her while she flipped the page.
There where pictures of animals, like deers and squirrels and rabbits; things like that. There was a picture of me in my wolf form, which looked crazy identical. Just things that she had seen and drawn.
She flipped the page and it was the picture of me and our baby. She tried to close it quickly, but I stopped the book from closing, but was careful to not smudge the pastels.
I opened it back up and said, "This one is my favorite," while placing a small kiss on her shoulder, then her cheek.
"Mine too," she said. It was soft, but SHE SPOKE! She placed her books on her nightstand and laid her head on her pillow. She was so close but so far away.
I grabbed her waist and pulled her towards me and since she wasn't going to do it, I did it for her. I wrapped her arms around my waist and placed her head in the crook of my neck.
She didn't even try to fight me on it. She just laid there. And within a few minutes her breathing was steady and I knew she was asleep.
I didn't want to get up and leave her but I knew I had to go talk to her parents.
About what? I don't know, but I'm about to find out.
