•Maxi's POV - Flashback•
I woke up the next morning groggy and tired. Sid and I had stayed up until way passed 4 am; we had been practicing our spells and chants.
It was about 9:30, when Sid and I realized we were an hour late for school. Which is typically the norm for us. I gently shook Sid's shoulder. The young Brit woke up with a sudden shock and swiftly pinned me down.
"That is a rotten thing to do to a bloke when he's having nice dreams about Sarah Colesman." He growled jokingly.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes, clearly offended. Sarah Colesman was a foreign exchange student at our school, from America. She transferred to our class last September. And it was during that semester that Sid had developed a crush on Sarah. Quickly, my raven haired friend had become infatuated with this American girl. It angered me beyond recognition.
Lilith had always been there to comfort me whenever Sid would ditch me to go hang out with Sarah. I don't understand how a punk like him could hang out with a prissy, preppy, cheerleader slut like her.
When I got up, I had decided to skip school for the day. I did need to pick up some booze for the party, in any case. My decision quickly changed when I heard my father yell at us to get our asses up and get to school. Sid and I got dressed in a haste and he left through the bathroom window.
I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. When I finally got downstairs, I grabbed my bag by the door and before my dad could yell at me, I bolted out the door and onto the bus. Sid sat there waiting for me, grinning.
We made it to school an hour and fifteen minutes late. The secretary let us go to class with nothing but a detention slip.
Fifth time late this month...no big deal.
