3rd Person POV

"All of that trouble?" Severus asked Ava, using Occlumency to communicate with her silently.

"What are you talking about?" She said but kept her eyes on some of the people who were talking.

"You got yourself into trouble on the first day of a new term, all over an insult I've been called my whole life?"

"Indeed I did. And like I've said before, it was worth it."

"Getting yourself cut up by your professor was worth it?"

"Yes and I'd do it again."

"Sweetheart, you know you don't have to defend me. Especially not to the extremes that you did. Right?"

"Just because I don't have to, doesn't mean I'm not going to."

"Well, you shouldn't."

"He had no right to talk about you that way. He doesn't even know you."

"And he never will, so it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what he thinks and it certainly doesn't bother me."

"Well, it does bother me. And I refuse to let him, or anyone, think that they can say what they want about the people I care about. He can think whatever he likes, but I'll be damned if I allow him to voice it."

"Ava," Harry waved a hand in front of her face, "you alright?"

"Oh, yeah I'm okay. Sorry, did you say something?" She shook her head as if to clear it.

"We've mentioned Malfoy a good five times and you didn't even look up." Harry explained.

She smiled upon hearing his name. "Oh, what about him?" Her grin widened.

Harry looked back at Sirius, pointing an accusatory finger at him. "See!"

"What?" She giggled.

"Harry and Remus were just telling me how close you are with Draco. I mentioned how I haven't seen him nor Narcissa in quite a while, and he made a point of saying how in love you two are." Sirius explained in a teasing tone.

3rd Year
First DADA class with Lupin

Draco and Ava walked through the door together. They stood in the crowd of students side by side, pinky fingers linked.

The contrasting hair colors caught Lupin's eye.

They both looked familiar but he couldn't place why until he took the roll.

Malfoy, Draco L.

Snape, Avyanna E.

And then it all made sense.

A Snape and a Malfoy had been drawn back together again.

Ava looked down, blushing like a madman. "Something like that."

Fred and George took notice of her rosy cheeks and gave each other knowing glances. "I think you guys have the wrong Malfoy." Fred started.

George nodded in agreement. "Right, don't you look at the Elder Mr. Malfoy with stars and hearts in your eyes?"

"How do you know about that?" She snapped her head in the twins' direction, the pink on her cheeks turning red.

"You still haven't gotten over your schoolgirl crush on Mr. Malfoy?" Severus looked at her from the corner of his eye.

"What no- wait yes- no- there is no 'schoolgirl crush' on Mr. Malfoy!" She stumbled over her words.

The table erupted into a fit of laughter. Sirius stood up, raised an almost empty glass of fire whiskey. "Well, I think that my cue to go get another bottle. Snape, another glass?"
