To inform those who'd skipped the description of this story, Model Mix-up is a swap AU, where certain characters take the places of others — assuming you're uninformed. I wished to explore the possibilities of particular personalities serving different roles and see what changes as a result. However, as will come to be known, there is one exception.

This page's purpose is to explain who's swapped with whom. It bears mentioning that, in some alternate reality, this story would have swapped J with Lizzy and V with Thad. I decided against following through with that idea, as it has already been applied to another story — likely many, if I had to guess. In fact, the story that'd inspired Mixup in the first place had those very swaps. But, in the end, I found my idea more compelling. And now, almost two years on, I'm happy with my decision.

Uzi and N have swapped roles — now "Serial Designation Z" and "Wesson" respectively.

In Episode 2, Thad referred to Uzi by the nickname 'Zi.' Utilizing that nickname, I landed on the name 'Serial Designation Z.' Originally, in this part of the paragraph, I would've explained how that affected Z's 'real name,' but the Disassembly Drones never had actual names in the manor (This story began development before Episode 5 released). Regardless, I will leave that segment below.

"This, in turn, establishes that the first letter of a Disassembly Drone's name doesn't determine the serial designation. (Not to bash on other AU's, but the name 'U' doesn't sound right to me)."

Therefore, following the old logic italicized above, N's Worker name doesn't have to start with an N. So, to keep the theme of a gun-related name, his name is now 'Wesson.' While this is not a gun, unlike an Uzi, it is from the name 'Smith & Wesson:' a firearm manufacturing company. The 'N' at the end of 'Wesson' feels emphasized enough to justify the name.

This unique name for 'Mixup N' also helps to distinguish him from other fanfictions that grant N a full name. (Again, nothing against other AUs, but... Nicholas? Really?)

Khan and Nori have swapped roles.

As of writing originally (Episode 7 and 8 only JUST had their release dates announced), we know little of Nori's character apart from brief glimpses and images. So, Nori's behavior is easily the most head-canon-laden section of this story. And, as could be surmised, Khan is now dead.

Update: With Episode 7 having been released, we know more about Nori's personality. This is one of the reasons I will be slightly revising the first two episodes of this story. I will still be taking creative liberties, however. Due in part that I feel Nori would behave differently, given the story's circumstances.

Thad and Lizzy have swapped roles.

Forewarning: Thad enthusiasts will be disappointed, as I am someone who's not particularly fond of him.

To summarize, Lizzy remains the 'popular girl' but has lost a fair amount of her rudeness to make way for compassion, more closely following the 'class princess' trope. In exchange, Thad goes from 'lovable jock' to 'jerk jock' in terms of tropes. He doesn't do much yet... though I suppose Lizzy didn't do much in the original canon. Not in the first seven episodes, at least.

V and J have swapped roles.

This swap is difficult to really explain, and there's little to discuss frankly. Without going too deep into the story, the most I can clarify is that V is squad leader, and J is no longer as such. All changes from that foundation apply.

Additional note: the three 'Manor Drones' (Haha, MDs) are given proper names for clarity in the events they appear. There is an explanation for this — trust me — I just haven't been able to lay it out yet.

Doll has stayed the same. Technically.

We didn't know about Cyn until Episode 5, so I didn't have a swapping candidate for Doll. I considered swapping her with Chad, but he only 'appeared' as a passing comment by Thad in episode 1. No explanation required for why that idea was scrapped.

Instead, I decided I would have Doll altered based on how Wesson and Lizzy were changed. In the original, she spent most of her time with Lizzy and her entourage of other drones, or possibly even just... alone. However, in Mixup, she discovered the only two friends she needed were the anxiety-racked Wesson and significantly-more-considerate Mixup version of Lizzy.

Another note: Doll still speaks Russian; I won't be writing as such. I don't trust Google Translate, and it's just unnecessary. Just pretend, and it'll all be fine.

Disclaimer regarding quality: I'll run through this story from time to time to make minor or major edits. This is in pursuit of shaping this story to be as best as I feel it can be! If this causes your comments to get all jumbled up, I'm sorry!

Anyways,
Happy reading!
