hi folks! long time, no see.
i've emerged from my cave to write for an ebbing fandom in an increasingly decaying ship, as is my prerogative. but beth and daryl's story felt so unfinished, so i decided to take matters into my own hands.
this is a canon divergence fic, which means i've switched some things up, the most drastic being the fact that beth lives. i've messed around the events of the season five, episode 8 "coda" because beth greene deserved to grow into a badass! so there.
this fic will including a few explicit topics, including but not limited to graphic violence, sexual content, and an age gap relationship. this might not be your cup of tea, if the comments on a plethora of tiktok edits are any indication. if so, just click off this fic! i don't mind :)

some housekeeping:
- this story takes place in-between s8 and s9, because i normally never write canon and i loathe rewriting episodic storylines lol. if you're confused about how beth gets to where she is, just know that it'll all be explained eventually, and being confused is normal in one of my fics.
- this story's title is from the song "safe in your skin" by title fight (gooo listen plz)
- the town of harper's ferry is real, but i have never been there OR to anywhere in the appalachian region so i'm just making shit up at this point!!! suspension of disbelief!!!
- leah is not happening, whatsoever, so daryl just found dog at some point and had him before the six year timejump, for the purpose of this story.
- also, the official TWD timeline is absolutely JACKED and a headache to attempt to write around. so if some of my timeline is a bit off, please give me some grace!
- updates will be whenever I fucked feel like it, because i'm an adult writing fanfiction and it cannot be in like my top ten life priorities.
