Naruto: Rejected

The Orphanage

Team 7 has already been doing rank D missions for a month. In the beginning, they understood that they needed to do these lame missions to gain experience, but this was just too much. They had just finished catching tora, a cat from a wealthy lady that escapes almost every day.

After they returned the cat, all the members of team seven entered the hokage's office. The hokage realized that they had just entered since Naruto started to complain since he entered.

"Come on, old man, I want to do harder and better missions. Hinata convinced me of waiting for a little longer since this is good for us, but I'm already tired of this. I have to go harder missions if I'm really going to be the hokage one day, you know, " said Naruto without indications of stopping his complaining.

"I know that this has been boring, Naruto, but I have a mission that will cheer you up," said Hiruzen.

"The orphanage need someone to help them for today, and I think that your team is perfect for this task, and you will also be able to reunite with some of your old friends," said the hokage.

Naruto paled after hearing this, and it was clear to the rest of the team 7 members, but especially to Hinata, that something was wrong with Naruto.

Hinata had always tried to dig into Naruto's past to help him. He had been able to overcome some of his fears since he started to live at Hyuga's compound, but he still had nightmares sometimes. He usually woke up in the middle of the night yelling and crying without control, and the only one who was able to calm him down was Hinata.

"Ummm, can we do a different task, please? I will not complain anymore, but please change our next task, " said Naruto with tears on his eyes and with a breaking voice.

"I'm sorry, Naruto, but I can't do it. The orphanage was already informed, and the team 7 is the only team available at this moment, " said the hokage with a small smile on his face.

'What happened to Naruto? I chose this mission for his team since I thought that he was going to be happy to see his old friends again. I guess I ended up doing more harm than good. I promise that I will talk with you about this later, Naruto. I'm sorry, though, Hiruzen, while team 7 left his office with a worried Hinata, an astonished Kakashi, an indifferent Sasuke, and a broken Naruto.

On their way to the orphanage, Hinata informed Kakashi that she wanted to talk in private a moment with Naruto before reaching their destination. This was something that Kakashi accepted, so Hinata took Naruto of his t shirt and took him to a near alley.

"Naruto, what's wrong? It is obvious that you are not feeling well at this moment. You don't have to do the mission if you don't want to. You can wait in the compound while we finish it. What do you say?" Said Hinata with a worried look on her face.

"Oh, don't worry, Hinata. I will be fine. It is just that I had to go through different situations during my time in there, but I'm ok. You don't have to worry about me. I'm fine, " said Naruto with a fake smile on his face.

Hinata sighed and said, "All right, Naruto, but let me know if you don't feel comfortable in there." Naruto only nodded.

Team seven arrived at the orphanage, and everything was good at the beginning. It was clear that Naruto was not comfortable in there, but everything seemed OK. The only odd thing that everyone noticed was the way in the orphanage director looked at Naruto. It was clear that she didn't like him at all, and there was hatred present in her eyes.

Everything kept going well for Naruto since Hinata was always at his side, but this changed. Hinata was needed in other parts of the orphanage at the moment, so she had to separate from Naruto for fifteen minutes, but this seemed like hours for him.

Naruto had been able to bear the pain that he was feeling due to his memories since Hinata was with him, but his pain became unbearable after he lost sight of her. He had a small panic attack and was hyperventilating. This was something that the director noticed while she was passing, and she was not going to leave this opportunity slip from her hands.

She started to walk towards Naruto, and this was something that he noticed. He knew that he was alone at that moment and that nobody could protect him from the knife's lady. He had called her like this during his time in the orphanage since she always cut him with a knife that she always carried with her.

Naruto was frightened after seeing that she was going to him. He knew that she was a heartless person and that she had hurt him in the past, but he was a ninja now. Naruto thought  that now she could not touch him, but he was wrong.

Her look twisted when she was near enough of him, and she took out her characteristic knife at that moment. Naruto wanted to run, but he was so frightened that he only stood in there to see how she prepared to stab him.

Naruto saw that she was going to stab him, but he was unable to move. He felt to the floor after she stabbed him for the third time. After that, she became crazy and started to do it without stopping at all. Naruto only said stop, please, stop while she was ending with his life.

Luckily for Naruto, Hinata was returning when she heard Naruto's voice and a wicked laugh. This alerted her, and she started to run to reach Naruto as soon as possible. Hinata reached Naruto's position, and she could not believe what she was seeing. The lady was stabbing Naruto without a stop. There was blood on the floor, and it was clear that Naruto was going to die if she did not intervene. Hinata punched the lady in her face with all her strength, so she sent her to the other side of the room in which they were. Hinata checked at Naruto, and it was clear that he was unconscious, but he had pulse.

Hinata's eyes were hidden by her hair, and she was only able to say with a voice that would frighten anyone. " What do you think you're doing?"
