Ruby woke up the sound of infected banging at the door.

She jumped up from the dirty mattress she was sleeping on and grabbed her things.

Once she gathered her weapons, ammo, and tins of food she ran out the back door.

She walked through the snow in the backyard and jumped the fence, careful not to alert the infected on the other side of the house.

"Great" she thought.

"now I'll have to find a new place"

About a week ago, ruby was part of a group of people called the WLF.

She was later kicked out because she betrayed the trust of their leader Isaac by refusing to kill an innocent person on patrol.

They had done nothing wrong and they weren't a Scar so ruby saw no need to hurt them.

The WLF didn't like that, so now here she is, wandering through the snow in hopes of finding a village or at least some kind of shelter from the cold.

The blizzard was getting worse by the second and it was so cold she couldn't feel her limbs.

In the distance ruby saw a runner twitching and grunting by a tree.

She carefully lifted her bow and arrow off her backpack and drew it back, aiming it at the infected.

She let go, hitting shooting it directly in the head.

Little did she know there were dozens more infected around it that she couldn't see from the heavy snow that got instantly alerted to ruby's presence.

They shot their head up and looks directly at her.

All of a sudden her legs picked her up and she started running faster than she ever had.

Even though her feet we aching, she had so much adrenaline that didn't matter.

She turned around, still running full speed, they were getting closer and closer, she'd never been so afraid.

Suddenly Ruby heard gun shots firing, but not from her.

A few of the infected fell to the ground.

Ruby looked to her right and saw a girl running towards her

"come on!!"

The girl grabbed her hand and they ran to her horse.

Luckily the horse was much faster than the infected and they quickly lost them.

"Are you bitten?" The girl asked.

"No..no I'm good" ruby said, her heart still beating fast.

"Let's stop here and catch our breath" the girl said.

They got off the horse and led it into an abandoned house nearby.

"You're limping" the girl said as she closed the door behind them.

"I'm fine." Ruby said.

She was so concentrated on getting away from the infected she didn't notice she hurt her ankle.

"Sit down" the girl said.

"I have a med kit in my bag".

They walked over to an old torn up couch in the middle of the room. ruby sat down at one end and the girl on the other end. She started inspecting her ankle

"What's your name?" She said and looked up at her.

Ruby didn't answer straight away because she was transfixed by the beauty of the girl in front of her.
