Summer, Tuesday 3rd - An Ancient Prophecy

The morning sun rose over the hills once more and I woke up feeling a little troubled lately, especially after that confrontation with Pierre last night though, while it was another normal day during the Summer but it held something quite promising.

I woke up to the same morning, stretching my arms as I looked out onto the dusty horizon of my farm, my various summer crops still growing towards their bountiful end; After a quick coffee, I pulled on my goggles and took to the skies once more to water the acres of fields before heading back to land and continue on with my day.

However, I was confounded with what I found in the dirt; A trio of wiggling worms were sticking out of the soil with an eerie shake. Getting my Hoe, I plunged its blade into the earth and pulled them out. Rather than getting some wrigglers, there was a dried-out pellet; Looking more like some seed of sorts. I was initially confused about what it was, so I headed over to Gunther, in the hopes of shining some light on what it was and boy was he in for a surprise.

"Good lord, Robbie! I always thought there were rumours but to actually hold one in my hand..." He gasped as he examined the mysterious seedling in hand. "What, what in your hand?" I asked, in a confused manner as he looked at me with a blink.

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I get awfully flushed when I encounter something like this. Ahem...

You see, my dear boy, is the remnants of a bygone age, far older than even the most primitive tool known to man. This here is what's known as an Ancient Seed. According to the prophecies, I recovered, it once belonged to a prospering civilisation, a very long gone one at that. They were supposed to help beat an ever-growing famine, bearing pristine fruit with a flesh so sweet and nourishing, it kept them going for a while until their untimely demise. Oh, how unfortunate, I must say!

Though, since this seed is in such a pristine condition, it might hold some of that crucial DNA. Be back in a jiffy, ol' boy." He said as he walked to the back and I sat down and read some of the books, that I've previous unearthed in the past, some alluding to the various mysterious fruits that were once grown in this but this one felt really mysterious.

"The origins of the Valley were always shrouded in uncertainty but many are believed that a meteorite came down and settled somewhere amongst the emerald hills.

The origins of the Stardrops, were closely linked to them and the other space rocks that followed, growing in uncharted regions that only the bravest of adventurers would seek them out. Once consumed, the fruits would bear unquestionable powers; Yielding great strength that faded less during their activities.

It is yet how one can't grow a Stardrop through agriculture, perhaps their seeds were too delicate to be used this way. Only foraging may be the answer to grasping a selection of these, if only rare."

As I finished reading the chronicle, Gunther emerged from the backroom and presented me with a handful of bright blue packets.

"Here you are, I managed to scrape as much of the DNA as I could and cloned enough suitable examples into these packets!

Robbie, you will become the first farmer to produce and yield the next generation of this fabled ancient crop for Pelican Town. What you do with the fruit is your choice but make it grand; For produce like this deserves a highly prestigious format for which to be sold on to the citizens of this here town!" He spoke, rather proudly as I was handed the samples. "The crops need good soil to grown so I reckon your farm would be suited. I'd recommend a Seed Maker too, while you're at it. The crops need to reproduce if they could ever stand a chance of succeeding. God speed Robbie." He smiled with a guffaw.

"I'll think of somethin' Gunther, thanks a lot!" I answered with a smile and emerged from the Museum. I stared at the label and glanced over to an empty glass bottle, discarded on the side of the road. Picking it up, I read the vessel's label.

"Joja-Wine – Brewed from artificial produce since 1991."

Hmmm, it seems Joja were selling their own cheap knock-off beverages, using questionable methods as a means to earn a quick buck, but then an idea pinged in my mind and I pounded a fist in my palm.

"That's it! I know what I want with my life! I'll brew my own wine!"

It makes sense; My dad had some of the old casks in the cellar and they'd mature delicious booze for the citizens in Zuzu City. If I can get Robin to upgrade my house, then I can have a basement of my own, lined with dark-oak caskets containing my Ancient Fruit Wine!

It might even put Joja out of business. It's a win for sure!" I said to myself.

"You're going to make your own wine?" Spoke a voice and I looked over to see Abigail approach. "Honestly, it's a bit of a climb; No-one has ever sold wine ever since Joja came to town. Their brand won the town over and even Gus commented that it was the best beverage yet.

You sure you're gonna take on the corporation's biggest hit with your own?" She asked in a concerned tone.

I never heard Joja were that good in the market... it seems they might've driven all of the other competitors out of town but, they struck down my family's proud history, it's about time I hit back.

"They do? Well... I want to get back at them for ruining Hummingbird Plains and that's beating them at their own game, because I have a secret weapon." I beamed with a smug and showed the lass, some of the Ancient Fruit seeds.

"These have not seen the sunlight for decades. If I can grow them then I can brew their fruit into wine. Then Joja will have a naturally sourced beverage to compete with." I explained.

She didn't seemed at all convinced by the idea, likely not knowing what 'Ancient Fruit' went but she supported me nonetheless. "Well... I'm behind it all the way Robbie. You've been a great help to the valley so far and I believe you'll do it.

Oh... and Dad wanted me to say to you that: He's sorry for what happened last night. He didn't want to offend you or anything, given what happened back home and that I can tag along with you anytime I want."

It definitely hurt last night, being told that I might perish with her in a crash but I made sure that all of the best safety features were built into Betty. I should also consider bringing in parachutes too... hmmm...

"Well, I kinda accept his apology but as long as he doesn't get between us again then I'm happy." I answered and she smiled in response. "Good, I didn't want any bad blood between you and him. Besides, you've been a great pilot so far.

I should let you get back to work... especially since you got a new seed to play with. Later, Robbie." Abi said and walks away.

I toiled on with the rest of the day, plunging my axe and pickaxe into tree and boulder alike, mining the resources needed, as well as selling my produce for the bundles and funds to commission Robin for my much needed for my house upgrade.

A week later and she was all done.
