"Slo," she called out as I tried my best to walk quickly down the crowded halls.

I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard for hours on end for a literal five years than talk to her. That's how easily her presence annoys me.

I felt someone gently grab my shoulder, "Slo—"

"How many times have I told you to not call me that?" I snapped, turning around to face none other than a smirking Karter Greyson.

Oh, how badly I wanted to wipe the smirk from her face.

Karter leaned against the wall as students filtered by us, "What? I thought it was a cute nickname," she said, crossing her toned arms over her chest.

"It's not, and even if it was—we're not friends, so there's no need for nicknames," I said, my tone laced with irritation.

Karter's smirk only grew, chewing on her gum, "So are we keeping our hookups on the DL? Is that why you're calling me your friend?"

I smacked her shoulder, "We're not hooking up idiot," I said, as Karter let out a dramatic ow.

"Chill, it was joke," Karter said, smiling down at me in amusement as I only grew more irritated, "But it could be real... all you have to do is say the word—"

I smacked her shoulder again, but this time she didn't bother faking the pain, instead she only laughed. I huffed, "Has anyone ever told you how annoying you are?"

Karter only shrugged, "Normally, I get told that I'm sexy, charismatic, or even good in bed—"

"For my sake, don't finish that sentence," I said, narrowing my dark eyes at her.

"Oh, but I was simply doing it for your sake," she said, playfully narrowing her dark hazel eyes so they matched mine.

I rolled my eyes, realizing that this conversation was quite literally going nowhere. God, I genuinely don't know how I'm going to survive being her partner all year.

"What exactly do you want, Karter?" I said, my tone unamused.

"You."

I briefly pinched the bridge of my nose, letting out an annoyed sigh, "I'm actually going to kill you."

Karter only bit back a laugh, scrunching up her nose as she said, "Is this some weird kink or something?" she said, tilting her head as I literally felt smoke shoot out the sides of my ears like some hysterical cartoon character. "Because I'm not into the whole murder fantasy—but I guess I can be for you," she said, winking at me.

I turned sharply on my heel, biting back any other remarks I had and locking them further inside of me since I knew she'd only spin them on me.

"Slo," she called yet again, walking diligently behind me as the halls began clearing out, luckily I didn't have another class to be in after this.

"Stop calling me that Karter," I said.

"Oh, my bad—would you rather baby? Or maybe princess?" she said, her tone full of teasing, and even though I couldn't see her face, I somehow knew she was smirking.

I stayed silent, holding my middle finger up over my shoulder for her to see.

"Any time Slo, just let me know when and where," she said, chuckling to herself.

I groaned, "You are so fucking annoying."

Karter caught up with my fast-paced walking, standing beside me as she said, "I think what you meant to say is, I love you Karter! You're so attractive, I can't wait to spend alone time with you on this project!" she said, her voice growing high in pitch before she inevitably let out another laugh.
