Natalie Beekan. That's me. Long ginger hair. Big blue-green eyes. Freckles. Glasses. There's not really anything else that can describe me really. In all, I'm an invisible nobody nerd that only gets to talk to the people when they need help with school work. I have 0 friends and I spend all my time gaming, watching movies, drawing, listening to music and studying. I know it sound bad but my best and only friend is my grey-brown husky puppy, Jammie. I walk him everyday and do everything with him. I love being with Jammie. I attend Sankay High School and I don't really care about what people think really. For some reason today felt different than all of the other school days.
I walked down the hallway as usual towards the library. There was only 7 weeks left in school until summer. I couldn't wait for summer. I was outside of the library and I noticed the sign on the small thin window that said 'closed until September'. That made me feel uncomfortable. I had no where else to go. The music rooms were closed in the morning and the art room was always full of guys in the morning. I decided to go back home for a while. There was no point staying at school for an extra hour before school if I wasn't going to do anything. I turned the corner of the path onto the street that had the field I lived behind. I noticed some guys from different schools playing football on the field. Great I thought to myself. I would have to walk past them to get home. I was also thinking of taking Jammie for a walk before school. I speed walked past the guys and was filled with relief when they didn't notice me. I told you I was invisible. I was home in less than a minute and was welcomed by Jammie jumping up at me. I moved out of my parents house when I was 14. I live in an abandoned house with unlimited gas and eletric. How lucky am I? It wasn't like the abandoned houses in movies with smashed windows and creeky doors. It was actually a really decent house. It It had a TV, an oven, microwave, toaster and all of the other things that a normal house had. No one knew I lived on my own because no one spoke to me. I didn't mind much. I hugged Jammie and grabbed his lead and ball. I took him on at least one walk everyday. I walked him to the field then took his lead off and shoved it in my school bag. I threw the ball and he fetched it. I carried on doing it until it landed near the guys running around looking like they would kill each other in seconds. Jammie was kind of like me. Didn't socialise well and got nervous around people. He sat next to the football field waiting for his chance. I shouted him but he didn't move. I ran over and petted him so he would lose concentration on the ball and pay attention on me. A few of the guys looked over to me but they all ignored me. I recognised a couple from school but most of them were from different schools. I played with Jammie and completely forgot about Jammie's ball until one of the guys came over with it.
"Is this yours?" He asked handing the ball out to me.
"Yeah. Thanks." I took it and Jammie jumped up quickly, startling me and causing me to fall from my crouching position and onto my butt. I heard the guy laugh quietly next to me and I scowled, still facing away from him.
"Are you alright?" He snickered as I got up.
"Yeah. I'm fine." I noticed he had on a Sankay High uniform. I didn't recognise him though. I checked the time on my phone and noticed it was 8:30. I had 10 minute to get home, feed Jammie and leave for school. It took at least 5 minutes to get to school. I got up, connected Jammie's lead to his collar and ran home as quick as possible. I quickly fed Jammie and refilled his water bowl, made sure I had everything I needed for school and headed off, speed walking most of the way. When I walked past the field the guy was still there. He was sat on the grass looking around like he was waiting for someone. When he noticed me he stood up and headed towards me.
"Hey," He said as he easily matched my walking speed. It was 8:36 and I really didn't have time to talk because if I spoke I would slow down and then I would be late.
"Hi." I replied quickly. I could feel him looking at me but I didn't do anything to stop him.
"Why did you run off like that before? I didn't even have time to get your name." He said as we carried on walking down the street.
"Natalie." I replied not really wanting to talk.
"Nice. I'm Jamie." I turned to face him and smiled. For some reason I'd always like that name. I loved the names Luke, Jamie, Nathan, Frank and Brendon. If you had one of them names I would automatically like you.
"I like that name." I said quietly.
"Huh?" He seemed confused.
"Nothing." I said. We were now outside of school. Thanks to the speed walking I still had 2 minutes until the bell went to start the school day. I walked into the building and Jamie followed. I wasn't in a rush anymore so I started to pay attention to him a little more. I stood outside my form room.
"Hey, is this Form 11.4?" He asked in curiosity.
"Yeah, why?" How did he know the forms already? It was his first day right?
"It's my new form. If you've not already noticed I'm new here. I was going to go the office and ask where my form was but since you're here I might as well stick with you. You don't mind do you?" He seemed nice. He was just too talkative.
"As long as you don't put me off my work then it'll be fine with me." I saw him do a little celebatory dance which made me laugh.
Sorry it's so short.
Hope you liked it...
