Ruby's diary
Ever since I was young I loved school trips, they were fun and adventurous and the most important part, they were out of a classroom. Relativity is always easier when you can see what you learn. Remembering is also a good point and thus school trips were made a functional tool in the education system. So I took it upon myself to go and try and enjoy the experience ... Until I grew older and had to chew up the fact that people are mean no correction girls are evil. They are always going to put gum in your hair with the well fasted prayer you'll cut it off or pour water in your seat and call you pee queen, immature and just plain sad. Oh! the Petting zoo was a grand idea to push you in poop. It's been a rollercoaster and the teachers were worse with their anti bully techniques especially when you have no parents to run to and they did. So why am I, Ruby Morganstein, placing a piece of sign sheet to get the opportunity to visit the caves of history in Midviel lower tunnels? I don't know, maybe am just assuming the frontal lobe of the student at Midviel is well developed and the harshest things they can do is spew bullshit now that can be handled.
"You sure you want to pick up on going to school trips again." "Dean sign the damn paper. The trip is tomorrow." Dean grabs the paper reading through the notes including the fine print declaring that if any student is found having participated in a misconduct or found destroying anything in the vicinity parents will have to deal with it both financially and criminally. Talk about being strict. "Caves of history, where the saleem witches congregated when they would come for the blue moon festival in Midviel. You sure you want to go there being part witch." Ruby nods in eagerness making Dean look deeply into the matter at hand in a different light. The sudden urgency, her introverted nature drowning out and welcoming herself in school activities other than the school gymnastics team. Was it a strategy or her just being a school girl, trying to enjoy highschool as much as she can? Either way thinking over it would not sign the piece of paper. "Are you planning to have your signature on that piece of paper or should I get Mick to do it?" "Mick is too busy for you right now." "Because the signature takes a hundred years." "Hey hey calm down, I shall not deny you the beauty of socializing and maybe get yourself a single day boyfriend while you are at it." "Am not you, I am going there to learn about our people and the things they did." Growls Ruby grabbing the piece of paper. "We may never get to experience the blue moon festival remember." Her tone lowered covered in sadness as they both take their time realizing the facts. "Do you think mom would show up if we had one?" "She would have. She loves us too much to miss it. Am sure she would want to see how you are and pass down those juicy secrets." "She would even break the rules to see you too you know that. She was never one to listen to her people." Ruby states smiling back at her brother. Their covenant was never one to welcome witch males. If a child male was born with the ability they would be slaughtered. It was always stated that females kept the magic pure and clean and males tainted by the blood of war for so long would grow up with a darker more chaotic magic that could not be controlled. But Catrina refused these ideals and chose to raise Dean teaching him everything she could about witchcraft. He remembers his mother taking him to the fields or the meadows to teach him. When she got pregnant with Ruby their father would go along staying in his wolf form in case enemies would attack. At first he didn't understand why he started doing it but later on learnt that female witches when pregnant get their a power reduction they could only use nature magic. This nerf of magic was so that the child inside can grow its own instead of siphoning from it's mother. So Michael knowing this, refused to let Catrina go anywhere alone without defensive magic. He can still remember how happy they always were. "She was never one to follow rules anyway." He says chuckling at the memory.
