After coming from the Burial mounds, Lan Wangji noticed weird things happening around him. Firstly, he was being covered in resentment. He blamed that on the broken amulet. He knew he had to seal the amulet. And so he locked himself in Jingshi. He had already planned on going into seclusion. This would give him plenty of time to figure out a way to deal with the Stygian tiger amulet.
The seclusion would also give him enough time for him to think a plan of action for the future. He was in no way staying in Gusu with his sect. There was nothing left here for him. When he opposed those 33 elders, he had already signed up for his death. If he can’t protect the man he so dearly loved, there was nothing left for Wangji in this world. If Wei Ying had died, he would have followed him in the afterlife. But now his Wei Ying had ascended, and Lan Wangji was not so sure if he would be able to follow him. He needed to plan a new course of action because he was done with how his sect dealt with things. He was finally understanding what Wei Ying thought about his clan and its 3000 rules. Under the same 3000 rules, his clan had hurt innocent people. He could not forgive them for their posing behaviors and false justice.
So the night he returned to cloud recesses, Lan Wangji sent a message to his brother that he was going in seclusion.
The second weird thing Lan Wangji noticed into his first week of seclusion was that he could hear voices from the amulet. At first, he just regarded them as a trick of his mind. But as the voices grew louder, sometimes he could hear certain things, said out loud. He had started to pay attention to those. For the next week, he deciphered whatever the voice told him. Apparently, they were souls trapped in the Burial mounds who had decided to lend their strengths to Wei Ying to escape that hell. He also got a confirmation about Wei Ying being in Burial mounds those three months he went missing.
These souls had been with Wei Ying for a long time and had thus known about quite a lot of things that happened in his life. They knew so many things that happened to Wei Ying that everyone was unaware of. He had talked to these spirits and learned all that he could. Though the information wasn’t complete in any sense, he could almost surmise the rest. Lan Wangji had figured out that Wei Ying had been set up in Qiongqi path and Nightless city. Who had set him up? Was the question he pondered about.
But talking to spirits still wasn’t the weirdest thing that had happened in the past two weeks he had been in seclusion. The unusual thing probably was, after talking to the souls, they had decided to help him should he decide to fulfil their wishes. Lan Wangji straight out refused. He had no intentions of using resentment energy. Not when he did not know if it was safer or not. Yes, Wei Ying had been able to use resentment, but Wei Ying was also known to attempt the impossible and being completely reckless at it.
Though Lan Wangji was sleeping most of the time, the rest was spent in understanding the resentment energy and the amulet. He had also tried to figure out all the culprits that could’ve been the ones to set Wei Ying up. This continued until two weeks after his seclusion came a message to him by his brother. His brother wanted to meet him. And though Wangji was a bit cross with his brother, he had agreed to break his routine to go and meet his brother.

I had almost started to write a new part from xichen's POV before but midway through the writing I realised that I needed to show what wangji was upto... I also know I should stop apologizing for late updates and short chapters because I keep using all my brain cells just to keep up with this much.
