Wen yuan had been running around the shrine. Full from the meal, he decided it was time to play around a bit. And Wei Wuxian had no heart to tell the boy he can’t. Especially when he gave him those puppy dog eyes. It has been two weeks since his ascension and A-Yuan has recovered from his fever. Fortunately or unfortunately, he had lost his memories. Wei Wuxian, however, considered it a blessing. No child should go through things that A-Yuan has gone through. And so he happily adopted the child as his.
“A-Die! A-Die! Look here.” A-Yuan shouted.
And so Wei Wuxian stood up from where he was seated under a tree and headed towards his son. Wen Yuan had been drawing figures in the mud using a stick. Though not a perfect drawing, he had drawn three stick figures. Wei Wuxian had guessed it instantly. It was him, A-yuan and Taizi Dianxia. As the emperor of heavens, Dianxia had many responsibilities, yet he would often visit to check up on A-Yuan’s condition.
“Very well done, A-Yuan.” Wei Wuxian cooed. “Maybe you’d end up becoming an incredible artist.” He added.
Just when he was about to pick up his son, Wei Wuxian felt a chill run down his spine. He straightened up and tried to figure out what made his sense tingle as he looked around, if someone has infiltrated the barrier he had around the shrine. But there was no one around. And yet, the feeling of being watched intensified. He was already in a battle stance when he saw a figure in white impending them from the long-winded road. It was Xie Lian. There was no need to tell that the malicious intent wasn’t coming from him. But still he picked up A-Yuan and speed-walked toward Dianxia’s approaching figure.
“Wuxian! A-Yuan!” Xie Lian called out with a cheer.
But when he saw Wei Wuxian with his guard high up, he was concerned if something was amiss. He stood still and detected that they were being watched. Wei Wuxian had by now reached him.
“You sense it too, right?”
Xie Lian nodded. “But I can’t seem to tell where they are staring us from. It seems their presence is everywhere.”
“The barrier around the shrine still intact, and it hasn’t been breached.”
Wei Wuxian has always had a knack for barrier and could confidently say that his skills were not so shabby. Anyone less than or equal to his strength should not be able to enter his barriers without any difficulties. Also, his strength has considerably increased since his ascension. But it seems that whatever was watching them was extremely powerful than the two of them combined.
The feeling continued to last for a little longer than it disappeared in an instant. The pressure welling inside the two martial gods finally lessened.
“What was that?” Wei Wuxian asked out aloud. But none had answers, so the two simply walked back towards the shrine.
What they all failed to notice was that A-Yuan’s drawing was swept away without any wind.
