Dark Obsessions: A Criminal Minds Story

Part 10

Rachel arrived at the BAU, eager to see Spencer and discuss the latest developments in the case they were working on. However, when she asked around, no one had seen him all morning. She felt a sense of unease creep over her as she tried to call his phone but it went straight to voicemail.

Her heart racing with worry, Rachel decided to check his desk. As she walked down the corridor, she noticed that Spencer's desk wasn't perfectly organized like usual. Then, she saw a note on his desk. It read, "Come alone if you want to see your boyfriend alive again."

Her mind raced as she realized that Spencer had been kidnapped by the killer they were hunting. It could only be him.  Her heart pounding, Rachel knew that she had to act quickly if she wanted to save him. She tried to call for backup, but the killer had cut off all communication lines.

Determined to save Spencer, Rachel took matters into her own hands. She left the BAU and went to the location mentioned in the note.

Rachel stood frozen in shock as Tom revealed himself to be the killer, her ex-fiancé who had died years ago. Tom's voice was filled with rage and jealousy as he demanded that Rachel choose between him and Spencer.

Spencer tried to intervene, but Tom held up a gun, threatening to kill him if Rachel didn't choose him.

"Rachel, please, just leave. I'll take care of him," Spencer pleaded, willing to sacrifice his own life to protect her.

Tears streamed down Rachel's face as she realized the gravity of the situation. Her heart was torn between her love for Spencer and the memories of her past with Tom.

But she knew what she had to do.

"I choose Spencer," Rachel said firmly, her voice shaking with emotion.

Tom's face twisted in anger as he raised the gun, but before he could do anything, Spencer acted. He lunged at Tom, tackling him to the ground.

Rachel's heart raced as she watched the struggle between the two men, not knowing who would come out on top.

In a moment of desperation, Rachel grabbed the gun from Tom's hand and aimed it at him.

"Rachel, don't!" Spencer yelled, but she couldn't hear him over the sound of her own heartbeat.

With a deep breath, Rachel pulled the trigger.

The gunshot echoed through the room, and everything fell silent. Rachel looked down to see Tom lying on the ground, his lifeless body staring up at her.

Spencer rushed over to her, wrapping his arms around her as she trembled with shock and emotion.

"I'm so sorry, Spencer," Rachel sobbed. "I never wanted you to be in danger."

Spencer held her close, his own tears falling as he whispered words of comfort.

Together, they walked away from the scene, hand in hand, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. They knew that the road to recovery would be long and difficult, but they were determined to face it together, no matter what.

As Rachel and Spencer emerged from the house where Tom had been holding Spencer captive, they were met by the rest of the BAU team. Morgan and Prentiss quickly moved to secure the area, while Rossi and JJ made their way over to Rachel and Spencer.

Rossi looked at Rachel, concern etched on his face. "Are you both okay?" he asked.

Rachel nodded, still shaking from the events that had just transpired. "We're okay," she managed to say.

Spencer took over, filling in the team on what had happened. He explained how Tom had kidnapped him and called Rachel, threatening to kill him if she didn't come alone. He then revealed that Tom was the unsub all along, and had been targeting young girls who reminded Rachel of herself as a child.

The team listened in shock as Spencer recounted the events, and Rossi took charge, ordering Morgan and Prentiss to secure the area and search for any additional evidence.

JJ put a comforting hand on Rachel's shoulder. "You did what you had to do," she said softly.

Rachel nodded, still coming to terms with the fact that she had just killed someone. But she knew that she had done it to protect Spencer and herself, and that thought brought her some measure of comfort.

As the team worked to secure the area, Spencer took Rachel aside. "Are you sure you're okay?" he asked, concern etched on his face.

Rachel nodded, but he could see the pain in her eyes. "It's going to take some time," she said. "But I'll get through it."

Spencer nodded, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I'll be here for you every step of the way," he said, pulling her closer.

The team wrapped up the investigation and headed back to Quantico. Rachel and Spencer sat in the back of the SUV, their hands intertwined as they processed the events of the day.

It was clear that they had a lot of healing to do, both individually and as a couple. But they were determined to face the future together, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
