"So he just didn't want us anymore?"
"Did he ever?"
"See? I told you we shouldn't have asked him for help in '63," Luther said matter of factly.
"I think you're all missing the big picture here," Five told them, "If Dad didn't adopt us as kids, he changed the timeline. So who knows what else is different now." A feeling of dread washed over Taya, that means that Claire probably doesn't exist anymore, she reached for the Orca necklace her little sister had gotten her and held onto the Orca charm.
"Shouldn't you know?," Taya questioned, tilting her head slightly as the warm sun beat down on her back.
"Sorry, Taya, but it might take me more than 20 minutes and a traumatic brain injury to figure this all out," Five replied, "is that okay with you?"
"No, actually, it's not," Taya retorted.
"Guys, look, it's fine. We still have the Commissions briefcase, so worst case we could just go back and fix it," Viktor reassured.
"There are two problems with that statement." Five stood up. "First off –"
"Here we go..."
"Time travel is complicated, people," Five began.
"Yeah, we get it, Marty McFly," Taya grumbled, Five ignored his niece's comment.
"And secondly... I no longer have the briefcase," Five finished, Allison got to her feet and looked at her brother as Taya let out a frustrated sigh. Nothing was going right today.
"Five, where the hell is that briefcase?," Allison questioned.
Five didn't answer, he didn't know. Nobody knew where it was. Everyone sat there in silence before they got up and began to take a walk around the park, silently. Everyone who passed them stared at them, who wouldn't? You don't see a group of beat up people walking in the park as if it was nothing.
"What are we doing?," Allison finally asked.
"Ruminating," Five answered.
"Why is everyone staring at us?," Klaus asked, sounding confused and quite offended.
"Because we look like the damn Village People just lost a fight," Diego replied, annoyed. He grabbed Klaus' cowboy hat and the two of them started to have their usual sibling rivalry bickering.
"Okay. Taya and I need to go find Claire. We will catch up with you guys later," Allison stated as she gently grabbed Taya's hand and began to walk away from the group, clearly done with everyone's bullshit.
"Hey, Allison, Taya, wait," Viktor called and the mother and daughter stopped, turning to him. "Let's just get somewhere safe first, clean up those cuts, and then we'll go find her." Taya nodded, looking at her mom.
"It couldn't hurt," Taya replied, smiling a little bit as she looked at Allison who just sighed and reluctantly agreed.
"But honestly what are we doing?," Allison questioned, looking around at the rest of her family. "We just stand here bleeding out in the park."
"I don't know, but we better gear up fast before they come back for round two," Diego replied and Taya sighed, looking at him.
"What makes you think they'll come after us?," Viktor questioned.
"Because I would," Diego told him.
"You're just salty because you got your ass kicked by a floating cube," Taya snarked, Five sighed before he stopped the conversation from escalating further.
"Let's just think of some place off the radar where we can lie low and not draw attention," Five stated.
"What kind of weird-ass place are we gonna go where we won't draw attention to ourselves?," Diego asked, everyone turned their attention to Klaus, who was dancing around a bit, bored. He noticed them staring and he realized what they were thinking.
