Juliet's P.O.V

I didn't sleep well last night and instead of staying home alone with my thoughts I decided to get dressed and head to my parents house early. Today being my mothers birthday meant she was already up and running this morning before the sun had even come out. So I was sure she wouldn't mind me coming over before the party started.

Driving there was easy. Parking, on the other hand, was a substantially harder task. I know she likes her parties big, but did she really have to take up both sides of the street with catering vans?

People in different uniforms were coming in and out of the backyard, the gate being propped open with a potted plant. I decided to go in through the front door so as to not bother the flow of people.

I had barely knocked on the door when it opened a smidgen; my dad looked at me through the crack. I raised an eyebrow in response.

"We don't want any, thanks!" he said shutting the door quickly before I could even say hi.

I rolled my eyes grinning. He must have been waiting at the door the second he saw my car pull up. He was probably watching me now through the peephole with a huge grin on his face.

You could hear him laughing through the door when I knocked again and he proceeded to open it the same way again.

"Get off my property or i'm calling the cops," he laughed shutting the door.

The windows were open so I could hear my mom yelling at him.

He opened the door grinning, "Your mother never lets me have any fun."

"That's a total lie," I scoffed, entering the house.

He just laughed closing the door after me.

"Julie you're early!" my mom grinned.

"Yup," I gave her a one armed hug, holding her present in the other arm.

"Is there a designated table for gifts?" I asked her lifting the present.

"There is but you can put it in my room. I want to open it later when it's just us."

I nodded smiling.

My dad called after me as I made my way up the stairs, "You can also leave my present in my room while your upstairs!"

I laughed, "Sure thing dad!"

I opened moms door at the same time I felt a vibration coming from my purse. I set the box down on her dresser before taking my phone out. A three word text from Graham lit up the screen.

'You confuse me.'

I shook my head as the screen went black.

I confuse myself.

I had been more tired than I had originally thought since I ended up falling asleep on the couch, although I had woken up in my old bed which meant that my dad had carried me upstairs.

The party was in full swing by the time I woke up. I felt bad for having fallen asleep since I could have been helping, not that my mom didn't have enough help already. I tried apologizing but she just waved me off.

I didn't recognize half of the people here, I'd never actually met the people from her clubs, which I'm guessing are the guests that make up most of this party.

I was currently just standing around nursing a glass of soda, my attention on a handsome brunette. He was one of the few people around here that looked my age. I studied him closely. I feel like I've seen him before but I can't quite place him.
