Juliet's P.O.V
Still in a state of shock, I didn't realize that I had started to move my own lips against his.
As he deepened the kiss he put his arms around my waist, which was when the reality of the situation hit me like a ton of bricks.
I pushed him a way roughly making him stumble a few steps backward. I was ready to give him another earful when there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," I called out before Mr. Mercier could say anything.
The door opened slowly and revealed the receptionist from downstairs.
"Mr. Mercier, your eight o'clock is here," she said, throwing a frown in my direction.
Probably because I wasn't at my post to answer the phone when she called...oops.
"Send him in."
His voice was laced with an emotion that I could not place, but it sent heat up my neck nonetheless.
As the receptionist made her way out the door, I quickly followed. I did not want to be alone with him again.
When the man scheduled to meet with Mr. Mercier passed by my desk, I sent him a quick smile which i'm sure looked pained.
I sat at my desk staring down at it. I bit my lip replaying the events that had just happened.
What the hell was that?
Had I felt a spark or was I finally losing it?
I couldn't have possibly liked it.
"So what happened?"
"Nothing!" I yelped startled, my head shooting up to meet Tom's stare.
He looked at me oddly and I blushed.
" I uh, I mean..." I cleared my throat and spoke calmly, "Everything is fine."
"Are you sure? I heard a lot of commotion, as did the rest of the office i'm sure," he frowned.
"Things got a little out of hand but it's resolved," I forced a smile, hoping he would let it go.
"So you still have your job?"
"Yes," I nodded, "So if I want to keep it I better get to work."
He looked at me oddly once more before nodding slowly, "Yeah, okay. We should both get back to work."
With that he walked away. I was sure he could tell I was hiding something, but for now he let it slide, and for that, I was grateful.
I breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Mr.Mercier's schedule. He had four consecutive meetings that took up all his time until lunch, which makes sense since we were leaving for the camp tomo—
Shit, the camping trip!
How could I forget?
Work with him, that I could do, but bond with him?
Curse this man and his timing. Couldn't he have kissed me after the trip?
Gah, what am I saying!?
I shook the thoughts out of my head and turned to my computer. I typed up a reminder to send the entire office, reminding them that we would be leaving at seven o'clock tomorrow morning; and suggesting they get here at a quarter to seven, if not earlier.
I spent the next four hours working on various things and glancing at the clock every couple of minutes. I compiled a list of every possible thing that we would need for the trip, I'll cross check with his chosen activities and cross out anything we won't be needing.
