~A/N: PSYCH!!!! So this is officially the last chapter of the series. And terribly sorry it's a bit overdue~
Tadashi's eyes fluttered open, as he looked around his room. He tries to sit up but noticed a sleeping form in his arms. He looked down and saw Jo sleeping in his arms. He smiled down at her and watched how she furrowed her eyebrows when sleeping, and her nose twitched slightly, which he thought was cute. He slowly moved his arm from underneath her. Careful not to disturb her, and made his way to the shower. He cranked the heat up and looked in the mirror. His hair is shooting in all directions, he noticed he's growing a scruffy beard, and his breath smelled horrible. He grabbed his toothbrush and spreads toothpaste over the top of the white and blue bristles. He brushed his teeth, making sure they're minty fresh, then he shed all of his clothes, hopping into the shower. After a while, he turns the water off, and grabbed his towel, drying himself off, he looked at the mirror again. He grabbed his razor, and the can of shaving cream, pushing some onto his hand, and rubbing it across the lower part of his face. He carefully ran the razor over his cheeks and chin. Making it smooth, and clean. He washes the extra shaving cream off his razor and splashed water on his face. He grabbed a nearby hand towel and dried his face. He looks at himself in the mirror, and ran a hand over his now smooth face.
Tadashi picked up his clothes and put them on. Now dry, and clothed in jeans, a blue cotton shirt, and shoes, Tadashi brushed his hair with his comb and put his NS baseball cap on. He took one last look at himself in the mirror, and then realized you can see his scars on his shoulder. Tadashi walked out of the bathroom and grabbed a black and white flannel shirt from his closet. He put it on, covering up the scars. He sighs and realized Jo isn't in his bed anymore.
'Guess I was in the shower longer than I thought,' Tadashi thought to himself, and walked down the stairs.
Today was the official day that Tadashi could go back to San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, after two long months of recovery. He is excited to be going back, and he also found out he will be sharing his workshop with Hiro. Jo was accepted into SFTI, a month ago, and she already has her own workspace, and many people love all the things she's built. Including, a successful flying jet-pack, spy glasses, complete with a hidden camera and night vision, and an almost successful flying car. She's been very productive.
Tadashi, ran down to the cafe, grabbing his satchel on the way down, and Aunt Cas knowing him, hands him a mug of coffee to him on his way out. He thanked her and met Jo and Hiro at the door. They made their way to the trolley, and jump on just before it started to leave.
"So I actually get to see my little brother in action. Hope you've been doing good, and not destroying everything," Tadashi said and smirked at his brother. Hiro punched him in the arm.
"I would never destroy something in the lab. Almost everything there is very expensive. Also, they set up a new rule, everything you break you buy. So I'd rather not break anything, I don't have that kind of money," Hiro said and leaned on the railing of the trolley.
Tadashi widened his eyes. "And when was this rule put into motion?" He looked at his frowning brother and crossed his arms over his chest. Hiro looked up and ran a hand through his hair nervously.
"Well I might have accidentally set something on fire in the lab," he said hesitantly. The trolley came to stop, the two brothers, and Jo jumped off. Tadashi slipped his hand into Jo's as they walked up the street. They headed up to STIF and walked to the robotics lab. As they walk in, all of them were greeted by the familiar faces of Gogo, Wasabi, Fred, and Honey Lemon.
"Tadashi!" Honey exclaimed as she pulled Tadashi into a death-defying bear hug. His eyes widened as his breath is pushed out of him, by her surprising strength.
"Whoa there Honey, Don't kill the man," Gogo stated, still chewing on a piece of gum, Tadashi swore hadn't left her mouth since the ninth grade.
Thankfully Honey let him go and he sucked in a deep breath. Jo responded with a slight pat on the back.
"Don't die on me again, Hamada," She explained and Tadashi replies with a look like 'really.' She just laughed in response.
After a while of talking, Tadashi was antsy to get back to work. To build something.
"Alright, alright. This has been fun and all but I'm really anxious to get back to work. Now let's go!" Tadashi said, acting like a three-year-old on Christmas morning. He got up from where he sat and made his way to his office space, Hiro right on his heels. As he walks down the hall he turned the corner and accidentally bumps into a little girl, who looked like Hiro's age, and height.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't see you coming around the corner," she said with an accent. British it sounded like.
"Um, that's okay. I should have seen you," Tadashi said and raised an eyebrow.
"Well alright then. I must be going," she said and ran off without another word.
Tadashi shook his head realizing the strange situation but it brushed over his head. She must have been a new student. He smiled as he comes to the door of his workshop and walked in like he was walking into the royal palace, going to have tea with the queen. But that fantasy fell short as he tripped and tumbled over a discarded robotic arm.
"Hiro!" Tadashi exclaimed and glared at his younger brother, who just stood there rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
"Sorry Tadashi, I guess I forgot to clean up a bit," he said and kicked the robotic arm to the corner of the room.
"A bit?" Tadashi said, and looked around his ruined and trashed room. "You're so picking this up, no matter how long it takes."
With that, Hiro groaned, but began to do what he's told. Tadashi huffed at his brother and stood up brushing off his pants. He walked to a desk and throws a robotic leg clearly demolished, off of its surface. He begins to pick something else up but something catches his eyes. He moved a blueprint out of the way and smiled softly. He picked up the simple chain necklace, with a star charm attached to it. It was his mom's and he kept it here so he could always remind himself that he was doing this for his family. He snuck it in his pocket and turned to the door.
"Have this place picked up by the time I get back, Hiro," he said and he heard grumbling behind him as he left his workspace and knocked on the door next to his room.
"Yeah, come in," he heard a voice say from inside and he slipped inside the room to see Jo leaning over a desk. She had earned this private workspace when the new director saw how skilled she was.
He moved up behind her and slipped his arms around her waist from behind, making her jump. "I have something for you."
"Oh, and what would that be?" She asked and turned her head to look at him as he leaned his head on her shoulder. He smiled and pulled the necklace from his pocket.
"This was my mom's. She told me to give it to the girl that managed to steal my heart, as my dad gave it to her. And that's what I'm doing," he said and she picked it up from his hand softly. Like she was afraid to break it.
"I-It's beautiful," she said and took a deep breath. "Put it on for me?"
He smiled and took it from her hand. He stepped back and slipped it around her neck. She turned and he saw her eyes shining with tears.
"You are the girl for me, Jo. And I love you," he said, slipping his arms around her waist, and her arms moved around his neck.
She smiled widely and kissed his lips softly. "And I love you too, Tadashi."
He pressed his lips to hers again, and together they could accomplish anything.
