You and the group stood in the field for what felt like hours, your legs began aching from standing for so long after sitting for six hours. Your mind started to wander off.
Will I ever get to meet this man?
You questioned everything, of course you would right? He's apart of Price's squad after all. Why were you so eager to meet him anyways? You've never been so head over heels to meet someone, especially when that someone is a complete stranger! You snapped into reality after hearing the crunch of gravel from behind you, Price had returned with a few members from his group. You averted your eyes not wanting to stare at them.
"Attention Unit!"
Price shouted, catching everyone's attention.
"Fall in."
You scrambled to be at the edge of one of the four rows so you could exit easily.
"When your last name is called, you will step forward and come to me."
You were so ready to get into a nice cool tent, set up everything, and finally relax. You couldn't wait to add another log into your personal journal. Price placed his finger and began reading off the list. . .
"... and ..., ... and ..., MacTavish and Riley, ... and ..., ... and ..."
Price continued going down that long boring list, and once again, you started drifting off. You almost started developing a thought but that got interrupted."..., and y/l/n. Due to liminal space and due to your partner, you'll be positioned at a tent a little off from the rest of the group. You will be closer to the north border and the lunch hall."
You sighed. Price handed everybody a paper with their assigned tent numbers, eventually he handed you yours.
Tent #786. Jesus how many tents are there here?
You saw the spot circled in purple highlighter. You picked up your bags while sighing, wishing your mind didn't wander off so you could get a thought on who your partner was based off their last name. You started walking but quickly stopped when Price tapped your shoulder. You forced on a smile and turned around.
"Yes Captain?"
"Just wanted to give you a heads about your partner. They have bad social anxiety so it may take them a bit to warm up to you. We'll be stationed in this camp for two weeks, enough time for you two to become associated with each other."
"Good to know, thank you Captain."
You saluted Price, turned around and walked off. You stared at the map blankly, you traced the trail with you finger to figure out where you would need to stop, after a minute you found a turn off on the map. You proceeded to walk to the sign, the road felt like it stretched for decades. Eventually you reached it, one arrow pointing to the lunch hall that was about a mile away, the other arrow pointing to the second runaway intended for bigger planes. You saw the little trail of fine dirt leading to the two tents, you squinted to check the number on the tent, it matched the assigned number on the map. You glanced back to see the other clusters of tents, there was a pretty good space between your tent and the others. You followed the trail, little puts of dust flying after you took a step, slowly ascending into a arch of trees with tall bushes on each side, it felt so tranquilizing. Your relaxation moment ended when you got a shiver up your spine. It felt like something was watching you. You shrugged the feeling off expecting it just to be a animal watching. You finally reached the tent, the feeling of being watched fading away. You entered the tent and placed all your stuff down, you checked your wrist watch, it read 18:00. You zipped up your tent and began unpacking...
