"Now go ahead Serkan. Climb the stairs, choose a door and tell me: What are you seeing inside of it?"

Constantinople - 1914

Serkan was in front of a hangar, making notes on his notebook about airplanes. He went through the previous pages and found plenty of information about maintenance schedules, ammunition stock and some guys names.

Even though he felt he was misplaced, he also felt like he belonged there, like that he was a part of that life.

He heard someone calling him and turned around to see a short guy who looked a lot like Erdem. "Captain Bolat! Captain Bolat! You're being summed up at the Major's office."

Serkan folllowed him and realized they were at an air base.

"Captain Bolat at your orders, Sir."

"Thank you for joining us Captain Bolat. Have you had the chance to finish the report about our squadron?"

"Yes, sir! I just finished gathering all the data you've requested and I'm ready to report our current situation."

The briefing with Major Özcan, Colonel Turan and General Yilmaz went on for one-hour while they asked Serkan about the airplanes and the pilots. When the meeting was over, Colonel Turan, Admiral Karaman and General Yilmaz said goodbye, but Major Özcan asked him to stay for a quick chat.

"You know Serkan they are putting a lot of faith in our success."

"I understand that Sir! Moreover, how much of your credibility you have personally invested in our squadron, even though many people around the Sultan were against it. My own father included."

"Listen Serkan, I've known your father for a long time, ever since we were just a couple of young boys at the Naval Academy. I know Admiral Bolat can be a little harsh on you, but that doesn't mean he is against you. Given the power held by our navy fleet, it is hard for man like him to understand times have changed and trust aviation shall be give us a lot of edge in the upcoming challenges we might have to face."

"I understand it Kemal, but how do you think I feel when my own father, the one who sent me away to study in France in the first place, doesn't trust my reports and my studies about the advance of aviation? I looked like a fool in front of the Sultan and the whole military chiefs. What if the German Kaiser diplomats' didn't suggest the subject to the Sultan? Would our empire safety be compromised because my father thinks I'm still a child and campaigned against my military expertise?"
