There he was. Just sitting there. After all those years. Nearly four to be precise. How could it have been that long? You would always think. It felt like yesterday you had met. Like that was the first time you had locked eyes with one another. You couldn't even apprehend how that was a matter of years. It could have been a matter days. Back when you were only a child.
Four years without even a glance, a discussion, or a sound. Without communication, a gesture, or a touch of his skin. Nothing.
But there he was. Simply seated in the workplace closest to the window. Desk bound as if he was meant to be, keeping quiet and minding his own business. Sitting there like nothing happened, like he belonged, like he never left. With his nose in a Charles Dickens novel.
He didn't seem to notice anything around him. Not the multitude of people, not what those people were doing, not the time, not the weather, hell you'd bet he couldn't even remember what room he was in, but most of all he didn't notice you.
You saw how his eyes read quickly through every sentence, taking in every word like he had written it himself.
His crystal blue eyes getting completely entranced in his book. Just like they always have. You saw how he swept his long blond hair from his face every five seconds. How he smiled at certain parts of the book, a small grin just nipping at the corners of his mouth when he read something he admired.
That his pale complexion looked even more perfect in the morning lambent. How he still managed to sit so poised and good mannered, unlike everyone else in this school.
He looked older, so much older then you remembered. The childish gleam in his face seemed to have faded over time. That's just what happens with maturity. His shoulders were broader, his hair a bit longer, his height a bit taller.
Despite it all the one thing you for sure noticed, was how handsome he became. Not in a million years would you think you'd be marvel at his change. He had grown into a admirable young man from a scrawny little boy. Every part of his face seemed to complement each other so perfectly with his white button up shirt.
But at the same time, he didn't change at all. In him you still saw a smart little kid that only wanted to explore. That wanted to run away someday to the sea, the mountains, just nature in general.
But, there was something about him.
You didn't know why or what it was, it was just there. Something that was completely and utterly unrecognizable.
The way he turned the pages of his hard cover, the way he blinked so slowly, the way his breathing was so calm, the way he read his book like it'd be his last, that told you there was something more. To anyone else looking at such a sight would think different, but you knew him to well.
There was something twisted behind his eyes. Behind that pure posterity there were secrets and manipulation. There had to have been for him to be here right now. He was just sitting there, all grown up. Like a picture hanging up on a wall. His hair shining in the daylight. Just sitting. Like nothing happened.
But none of this was real you thought. It couldn't be. All of this was in your imagination, you were just fantasizing what you wish you saw.
It was such a surprise to see him there, but more of a surprise than anyone would have ever thought. No one could have known what was going through you head at that moment.
At first glance your face went as pale as a sheet, your eyes widened, and a switch went off in your brain.
Your fingers suddenly couldn't hold the weight of your books. They became heavy, excessive until they fell to the floor slipping out of your delicate hands. Papers rambles across the ground flying in ever direction possible while your eyes didn't even flinch. Your hands hardly moved at all.
