It was no secret that Spencer was protective over the people he loved the most. Seeing everything he had, it was easy to get caught up in the idea that there was only evil in the world. Thankfully, when Y/n arrived and become his coworker, she showed him that there was still good out there. With her smile and infectious laugh, his outlook on life completely changed for the better. That was one of the first things that made him realize how in love with her he was. Suddenly, he was in love again. It had been years since Maeve and years since his fear of love kicked in, but, when he looked at her, he wasn't scared. He was excited and giddy over the idea that she loved him too. Which she did. The two hadn't been one of those couples that took years to get together. Once the team realized their feelings for each other, they practically forced their confessions. Making them share a room together on cases, pairing them up, and "accidentally" locking them in a small supply closet in the lobby of a police station because they "broke" the door. Long story short, when they became official, the team all but jumped up and down with joy.
"Baby?" Spencer's voice flooded the girl's thoughts as she sat at the break room table. Looking up, her eyes found his deep brown ones, filling her with warmth.
"Hey, what's up?" She smiled and it almost melted him. He sat down on the chair next to her, his hand falling to her thigh as he leaned forward and kissed her gently on the lips.
He pulled back, smiling down at her, "We have a new case. Everyone's meeting in the conference room to brief right now."
She smiled back at her loving boyfriend as he stood up and offered his hand for her to grab, which she accepted. The two walked down the hallway and up the stairs before entering the small room holding their team. Everyone smiled at the couple they had been so grateful got together all those years ago, but quickly focused their attention on the killings that had been going on in Los Angeles.
Their next stop.

After the short discussion of the case on the jet, Y/n fell asleep on Spencer's shoulder.
"Late night?" Morgan smiled mischievously as he eyed Spencer.
Spencer blushed, "None of your business."
The boy tried to keep a straight face but broke out into a grin as the memories of their "late night" entered his brain. It had, in fact, been a late night and he wasn't stupid as to not assume what Morgan was thinking kept them up so late.
Morgan was right, but Spencer was never going to tell him that.
So, all the brown-haired boy did was smile at his friend and wrap an arm around the girl asleep next to him.

As the group walked into the LAPD, the tension was high. While they had been on the jet, the killer had added another victim to their already extensive list. The sheriff approached them first, talking fast about things they already knew, and Spencer had volunteered to speak to the officer as he was the only one that could keep up with his fast pace. The others, including Y/n, set up in the small meeting room they had been provided. As they were posting pictures on the bulletin board, Spencer walked back in. He appeared at Y/n's side, an arm moving to wrap around her waist, something he always did when they were on cases and he became overly protective over her. He spoke about what the sheriff had told him and the team began to piece together the case, illustrating a vague picture of what could fit the unsub. After a few hours, Y/n yawned and decided it was time for another cup of coffee. Before she left, she did her usual ask to find out if anyone wanted some too and Spencer did his usual ask to find out if she wanted him to come or not, both questions being answered with a 'no'.
Her eyes bore holes into the paper cup as she watched the brown liquid begin to drip down. Her quiet peace was disturbed as she felt a presence near her. Looking to her left, she found one of the county's cops staring down at her. He was tall with blonde hair and muscular, completely different from the man she loved so dearly. He was conventionally attractive, but she wouldn't go as far as to say he was as attractive as Spencer. In fact, she didn't think there was anyone she had met that would warrant that response.
"Hi, can I help you?" She asked, skeptically as the man sent her a flirty smile.
"Do I know you? I haven't seen you around here and I'm sure I would remember someone as beautiful as you." She withheld the eye roll that threatened to show itself at the man's cliché comment.
"No, I haven't been here before." She tried to let him off without letting him know she was a federal agent, but he kept going.
"Well, I better make sure I do see you again. So, can I have your number, beautiful?" The blush that spread across her cheeks was of embarrassment, not flatter, which is what he took it as.
"No, I have a boyfriend." He rolled his eyes at her comment.
"Sweetheart, don't hit me with that comment. Come on, you know you want some of this." He gestured to himself, "Do us a favor and don't play hard to get, babe."
"Um, I-" She was at a loss for words, "I do have a boyfriend."
"Oh, yeah? What's his name?"
"Why do you need to know that?" She challenged.
"Listen, whatever your name is, if you treat all guys like this, I'll be the first to tell you that no one will ever put up with you."
Her cheeks burned once more and she prayed to God that someone would step in.
"Clearly, I'm not interested, so please leave me alone." She thought he would finally let her be, but he continued to stand his ground.
"Alright, babe, you successfully wore me down. What do you want? Dinner or something?"
She opened her mouth to speak up, but Spencer beat her to it.
"I think what she wants is for you to leave her alone. But, I'm not sure." He said from behind her with sarcasm dripping from his voice.
The blonde-haired man looked towards the man that was now attached to her side with his arm moving to her waist once more.
The grimy man laughed as he dryly said, "What? Are you her boyfriend?"
With a tightened hold on her waist and no hesitation, Spencer responded, "Yes."
It seemed to take the man by surprise and his confidence was shot down more as Morgan and Emily appeared before the three of them.
"I'd suggest that if you want to keep your job then you should stop making FBI agents uncomfortable." Emily stated, assertively.
His blonde hair swished around as he looked Y/n in the eye, "You're an FBI agent?".
His wide eyes seemed scared, something completely different from the overpowering man speaking to her just a few minutes ago.
"We all are." Spencer spoke up from her side.
The man was gone as quickly as he came and, when he was out of sight, Y/n let out a sigh of relief. Spencer pulled her in for a hug and kissed her temple before whispering a sorry in her ear. She allowed herself to get swallowed by his long arms and gain her composure, relinquishing control.
"Listen," Emily coughed which made Spencer and Y/n cran their heads to look at her, "if you want, Y/n, we can get him off the case. So, you don't have to interact or anything."
"No, it's okay. I think it's fine. He knows who we are and he seemed pretty scared, so I don't think he'll try anything more."
"Are you sure, my love?" Spencer stared down at her, his eyes searching hers for a solid answer.
She smiled up at him, "Yeah, I'm sure."
She squeezed his arms and he gave her a quick peck on the lips.
"Ugh, you two are too cute. It makes me sick." Morgan chimed in as he turned around and walked away, Emily following behind him.
The couple laughed, "You sure you're good, baby?" Spencer asked, cradling her face with his hands.
"Yes, Spence, I'm good. I think as long as this whole 'she's my girlfriend and if you cross her, you cross me' thing you've got going on keeps up, it'll be fine."
Spencer laughed as they began trailing back to the meeting room, her coffee being long forgotten, "You act like you hate my protectiveness." His toothy grin was plastered across his face as they made their way into the room.
Unaware of the team's smiley faces as they watched the two, she said,
"You know I never could."
