Spencer didn't ask Y/n if he could bring his mother to their home. He just showed up, back from his trip to Houston, with his mom trying to explain to his girlfriend that he had to bring her home with him. Y/n, being the patient girlfriend she strived to be, tried her hardest to accomodate the woman she had only met once before.

"Ms. Reid, can I get you anything?" Y/n said after Spencer had left for work. Something she was incredibly terrified for, being there alone with his mother who suffered from schizophrenia and dementia.

His mother turned around and stared at Y/n for a few moments before getting up and walking out of the room, slamming the door to their bedroom shut.

It was only a few hours later that Diana came back out and, when she did, Y/n knew her mood had changed.

"Hi, Ms. Reid, were you able to sleep?" Y/n said, calmly.

Diana's eyes narrowed, "You need to leave."

Y/n faltered, "Um, I'm sorry, Ms. Reid, but I don't understand."

His mother walked over to Y/n, towering over the short girl, "Get. Out."

"Ms. Reid, I-" Y/n began.

"STOP CALLING ME THAT." Diana screamed at her, causing Y/n to flinch at the sudden change of volume.

"Do you want me to call Spencer? He's at work, but I'm sure he would answer." Y/n tried once more, but Diana didn't listen as the older woman put her two hands on Y/n's shoulders and began shoving her towards the door. It only took a few aggressive pushes for Y/n to trip and fall, smacking her head on the floor. Her vision went black for a moment and when it came back enough for her to make out blurry figures, she saw Spencer's mother move back into their bedroom and locking the door.

When Y/n tried to get up, she lost her balance, beginning to lean on his desk. It only took a few seconds after that for the nausea to set in. Y/n began to panic as she felt the bile rising up her throat, knowing the only bathroom in the apartment was behind the door Diana had locked. She frantically whipped her head around to find a sink or trash can, but that proved a horrible idea when the sudden movement caused the bile to reach her mouth as she hunched over and puked on the floor. Crying from the pain and mess she had just made, Y/n's blurry vision tried to make out where her phone was. After a few minutes of trying and failing, she reached her phone, the bile appearing in her throat once more. She heard the ringing until Spencer's voice flooded the phone.

"Hey, baby, is everything okay?" The loud noise caused her to bend over and give into the vomiting once more, everything began to spin.

"Y/n?! What's going on? Did you just puke?" His questions came in and she pulled the phone away from her ear.

"Spence, don't worry, but I think I have a concussion. Can you come home? I- I don't feel well. I vomited all over the apartment, I'm sorry." She cried, the pain blurring her vision again.

"What? How did you get a concussion?!" he said frantically. Y/n began to hear the rustling of his things as he packed up his satchel.

"I fell and hit my head on the floor." She said, trying to leave out the part where it was his mother that caused her to fall.

"Okay, I'm on my way. Lay down on the couch and close your eyes, but, baby, don't move. Seriously, don't move and don't put on TV or anything. It needs to be quiet. Just- just lay down." He said, frantically.

Spencer took the stairs three at a time, so he could get to Y/n faster. Finally, he opened the door to his apartment and the sight before him made him cringe. The smell hit him first, but then he saw the spots of vomit on his floor and he had to hold himself together so he wouldn't puke as well. His main focus was to get to Y/n, so he could make sure she was alright.
