Chapter 4 - Under the Helmet

On the last episode of We Got Married...

Our new couple Y/N Jang and Karina are about to meet each other for the first time on the track! However, Karina is wearing a helmet so Y/N Jang has to guess her identity with 3 yes or no questions when he is driving a lap around the circuit! Let's get back into the action!

(in the car)

(Y/N) "Are you ready?"

(Karina nods towards Y/N, buckling her seatbelt)

(Y/N) "Off we go then!"

(Y/N starts his car, heading down the first straight toward the first right-hander)

(Y/N) "Uhhh are you an idol?" (asking as he makes the turn in a squeal of smoke and sound)

(Karina) (struggling a bit due to the turning g) "Yes!"

(Y/N spins the wheel, drifting into the left hairpin whilst changing gear, looking utterly relaxed)

(insert to set) (Eric Nam) 'DAMNNN, that's so cool!'

(Y/N counter steering into the next straight, stepping on the gas, briefly taking his eyes off the road to glance at Karina sitting next to him, we see him smile shyly.)

(Y/N) "Have you appeared in any TV dramas before?"

(Karina) "I HAVE!" (the last of her reply becomes a scream as Y/N takes the two of them into a hard right turn, going into a drift).

(Switch to an aerial view, where we see that within a short time, Y/N has already cleared more than half of the track.)

(A bit of silence falls as Y/N focuses on the technical bit of the track, and Karina clings on for dear life)

(Making the turn on to the final straight)

(Y/N) "last question: have I ever met you before?"

(Karina) "Not before!"

(as Y/N crosses the finish line, the camera pans to the car pulling into the pits, stopping.)

(Y/N gets out of the car, and proceeds to help Karina out of her side)

(Winter) 'Y/N Oppa is such a gentleman!'

(Y/N) "Are you feeling okay?"

(Karina) "I'm okay, just need to sit down for a bit..."

(as Y/N goes to a separate bay, Karina goes to the one next to it, sitting down on a chair and fanning herself.)

(interview set) 'How was the ride with Y/N?'

(Karina) 'Honestly, I felt like throwing up but it was really exciting, I've never experienced this before.'

'Do you think he knows who you are?'

(Karina) 'I really couldn't tell then, the questions he asked were rather vague.'

(Y/N at interview set) 'Did you figure out who your wife is?'

(Y/N) 'I did actually.'

(Jungseok) 'From such vague questions though?'

'How did you figure that out?'

(Y/N, looking sheepish) 'I figured that out when she said she's an idol and I heard her scream. (immediate flashback to the scream during the lap) Her scream is recognizable for me.' (he chuckles)

(Seunggi chuckles) 'You know that's also how I remember my wife too.'

(back to the couple at the race track, Y/N is now standing with his back against the wall, Karina with her back against the opposite side.)

(Karina) "Who do you think I am?"

(Y/N) (Proceeds to pretend to take a while to think) "I know you're a girl group idol, who's been in some dramas before...I'm gonna wager between NewJeans, Fifty Fifty, and Aespa."

(Winter) 'Oppa is being playful I see!'

(Karina) "so who do you think I am?"

(Y/N) "Karina of aespa."

(camera focuses on Karina's dumbstruck face) "Why do you think I'm her?"

(Y/N) "It's simple really, that scream during the drive, I'd recognize it as a MY."

(Karina) "I could be Giselle pretending to scream like Karina you know?"

(Y/N) "I'm pretty sure that Giselle is shorter than you so, my point still stands."

(Karina steps out from her side, patting Y/N's right shoulder) "Did you really recognize me from my scream?"

(In the studio, the MCs are all cheering as the two finally meet each other face-to-face for the first time)

(Y/N) "Nice to meet you Karina ssi."

(Karina) "nice to meet you too Y/N ssi."

(moment of silence as the two of them awkwardly process the information)

(Winter) 'It's so awkward!!!'

(Eric Nam) 'Well it could happen, it is their first meeting after all.'

(Y/N) "Yes, I did recognize your scream, I really enjoyed SYNK road so your laugh left an impression on me."

The two of them shook hands, Karina still shyly looking away from Y/N.

(Y/N) (chuckling) "Should we go somewhere to have an actual conversation? Like a nearby cafe perhaps?"

(Karina) (face visibly pink) "I think I saw one on the way here to the track, let's go to that one."

(Y/N) "Sure thing."

(As the two of them make their way to his car again, Y/N once again helped Karina open her door.)

(Shinhye) 'Y/N is such a gentleman! I need to make sure my own son learns from him!'

(As Y/N steps into the car, he starts his engine and starts their way to the cafe.)
