narrator pov

Its been a day or so since the flame pillar and the three boys took off for their mission. y/n tried desperately to get her mind off things, like visiting mitsuri to get lunch after work. to be honest she was darn good at distracting people, the love pillars excitable personality easily taking over her train of thought. y/n completely forgot about the mission until they paid the bill. when that happened, y/n shot out of her seat, threw her money on the table, pecked mitsuri on the cheek and sprinted out of there.

'i can't believe i forgot and just let them go! i need to go get them!'

y/n stopped in her tracks. she knew she wasnt thinking clearly- but what choice did she have? deep down she knew that she would give her life for those boys, protecting others is her lifes purpose after all.

"y/n?? y/n where did you go!" mitsuri shouted, frantically searching for y/n's whereabouts. "im over here.. kanroji."
the love pillar planted her heels into the ground and wrapped her arms around the other female. "y/n i was so worried! why did you run off like that!" she wailed dramatically.

"im so sorry for leaving like that. i have to go now, please take care of yourself kanroji." y/n turned to leave but her arm was grabbed by the pink haired lady. "this is about rengoku and tanjiros mission isnt it y/n." mitsuri said disappointed. she knew y/n had the eyes for those boys, if only y/n had the eyes for her.

however, little did she know,
y/n was warming up to the idea of being a little more than just friends with the love pillar.

"it is about them. i cant help but be worried about them! dont be sad please, ill make sure to return and we can go on as many dates as you want when i get back, m'kay?" y/n comforted. she made sure to leave out the part about rengoku being in love with her. y/n still couldn't believe it. did he just say it in the spur of the moment or did he truly mean it? and if so, does she love him back?

'dates?? did she say DATES?!' mitsuri squealed internally. her face exploded in red.

and just like that the blue haired girl was gone at the speed of light, leaving the hashira a blushing mess the whole day.

time skip

"become a demon kyojuro!"

akaza was at his high, fighting someone as strong as rengoku certainly was fun.

the flame pillar was severely injured at this point. bloody eye, broken ribs, internal damage, deep cuts littered all over his poor and exhausted body. he knew he couldn't last that much longer, yet he pushed on.

the battle was nearing its end, the flame pillar released his final form. "flame breathing ninth form: rengoku!"
he charged towards the upper moon at unimaginable speeds, his body engulfed in flames. akaza grinned evily as his own hands shined blue to combat rengokus dragon of fire.

when y/n got there it was as if time was moving in slow motion. the mist from the battle was clearing and she could see the demons arm reaching back ready punch rengoku right through the stomach.

"KYOJURO!" y/n screamed, leaping forward and pushing herself in akazas lethal blow. her arms lit up just in time in an immense glow, blocking the punch and throwing the two far back to where tanjiro was.
