CHAPTER TWO,
like we're in love.

SOLANA COLEMAN WAS CHECKING OUT HERSELF IN HER MIRROR. It was Azella's idea for them to dress up as female Looney Tunes characters. Solana dressed up as Betty Boop. Sol didn't really care that much, to be honest. As long as she had a costume, she was alright with anything. The girls decided to get ready at Solana's house, then Maelyn would drive them to Tina's house. They were pretty much ready to go. Solana just wanted to make sure she looked good.

"You look really good, Solana. Stop worrying," Azella says. She realized that Solana kept analyzing herself, with a frown on her face. She believes that it could be the costume, when actually Solana was fidgety because of the fact that Maelyn kept mentioning Steve Harrington, out of all people. To distract herself, she started to mess around with her dress, ensuring that she wasn't exposing herself too much.

She has yet to mention to her friends that she and Steve finally talked. Now wouldn't be the best time anyway. If she mentions it, they would want to know all of the details, which would make them late for Tina's party. Besides, Solana doesn't want to admit that she's having second thoughts about holding a grudge against him. Now that she knows the truth, she can't help but feel like maybe this is the chance for them to become friends. She's not interested in becoming his girlfriend or anything. He already has Nancy Wheeler. But, maybe they can be cordial with one another. Who really knows, maybe they can at least say hi to each other at the party?

Solana does not doubt that Steve will be there. She would actually be surprised if he decides to skip the party. She's just wondering if Johnathan plans to show up and socialize. She really hopes so.

Glancing at Azella through her mirror, she informs her that she isn't worrying and that she's okay. Azella didn't believe her though. Maelyn kept rambling about Steve, and how the new boy at school, Billy Hargrove has better hair than him.

"I have to disagree with you on that one, Mae," Solana speaks up. "I don't like him but you can't deny that Steve's hair is nice. Nobody is beating him in the hair department. There's no competition." She mumbles the last line lowly, but loud enough to the point where Azella heard her.

"You don't like him? Right." Azella narrows her eyes at Solana. If lying was a crime then Solana would already be on her way to jail. "You were pretty quick on defending him though," Azella points out. She noticed how Sol stayed silent as Maelyn kept speaking about Steve but eventually, she joined in on the conversation when he was being compared to someone else. Solana doesn't say anything in response, because she knew that Azella was right. Plus, she knew that Azella was smart as hell. Her mind was already brainstorming, trying to determine why all of a sudden Solana Coleman is defending Steve Harrington. Isn't this the same boy she hates? Or was all of that a lie?
