"What's this?" a tall girl asks when she sees us. She has purple streaks in her black hair, which is unheard of. She has a scar on her lower right cheek.

She's really beautiful.

"We have a hostage," John announces proudly.

"I don't think you were supposed to bring a girl back," she muses. Her green eyes study me. She purses her lips.

John waves her comment away. "I need Waldor." His tone is dismissive.

Waldor?

The name sounds familiar.

"Okay." She heads off to a different section of the ship. From what I can see where I'm standing, the area must be the rooms. "Waldor! You're needed!" she yells down the hallway.

"Coming!"

A few minutes later a man walks out. He stops in his tracks, narrowing his eyes on me. This must be Waldor.

My body goes cold.

He is straight off of the wanted poster me and Dyna looked at the other day.

The indomitable.

He looks even more stern in person, though. His jaw is set and his brown hair is falling into his eyes. Waldor doesn't look the least bit pleased.

"What's this?" he questions coolly.

"I thought we could use her."

"John, I did not tell you to bring a prisoner back! We have enough of us on the ship."

He didn't want a prisoner? Then what was he looking for?

John doesn't seem fazed. "What's one more?"

Waldor groans, raking a hand through his hair. "This wasn't what I meant when I sent you two out."

"We are sorry" Jack says.

When I gaze at Jack I'm surprised to see he looks very similar to John. They must be twins, I realize.

They have the same physique, but Jack's hair is longer. He's more frail too, while John's more muscular.

"Well, she's already aboard so it's too late now. Find her a space to stay. We'll release her in the next town." Waldor left us.

"Okay, let's go," John says, dragging me toward a set of stairs.

"Wait!" another man says, stepping forward. "I'll take her. You and Jack need to brief with Waldor. He wants you right now."

John hesitates. The man's eyes travel to John's hand gripping me so tightly, I'm sure I'll have a bruise there.

"Take her to the basement, Ilon." It wasn't a suggestion, but a request. Is he the captain?

But that can't be, right? Otherwise, why would he have to answer to Waldor?

John shoves me into the other man's arms and stalks off down the hallway, with Jack following him.

Relief immediately washes over me when he lets go of me.

"Let's go," Ilon says, gesturing for me to walk ahead of him. I weigh my options for a split second before deciding running isn't in my best interest. Besides, I'm on a ship and there has to be more of them than four. He places his hand on the small of my back, gently guiding me to a set of stairs.

"I'm sorry," Ilon begins as we descend. "But you'll have to stay down here."

A small cot is in the corner of the cell. I swallow as I stare into the small space.

"I'll do my best to find you something better. But, for now, you have to be down here." Ilon's tone sounds sincere. He leads me into the cell before retreating and locking the door behind him.

He seems nice and has beautiful turquoise eyes. His hair is white as snow and short.

Illon does not look like a pirate. He looks so sweet, so nice, How did he get mixed up in this? He is also clean-cut, too neat to be a criminal.

"Hey, Ilon?" I call out as he retreats to the stairs. He pauses, giving me his full attention. "Thank you. For, um, not being rough with me."

He nods. "Don't mind John. He can be...a jerk. But he's loyal."

Ilon leaves me alone in the basement.

As soon as he's gone, I pull out my smartphone, which was thankfully in my pocket, and try calling the police.

It doesn't go through.

I keep trying but I have no signal.

I throw my phone across the cell and sink to my knees from fatigue and despair. What am I supposed to do now? How can I get away? I don't know how many of them are here.

The rocking of their ship begins making my stomach queasy, so I lie down, hoping to calm it.
