The Slenderman is not a Creepypasta.

Okay, I'm really surprised that so many don't know the origin of the Slenderman, so I'll do a quick enlightenment chapter here:

The Slenderman is not a Creepypasta, none of the numerous Cp's about him are official or canon. He was never human and he doesn't have a daughter (or maybe he does, who knows ?) and he wasn't created by the Slenderverse ARG's, they were just built around him. The Slenderman was created through a photo editing horror contest. Namely on June 10, 2009 in a forum called "Something Awful" by a guy named Eric Knudsen, and became popular shortly thereafter. Just a photo.Everything else like the (made-up) "facts" that he kidnapped children in the forest, or drives people crazy and they become his servants, were made up by some people at some point. And since the makers of various ARG's used this concept, it had become so widespread. But these are basically only headcanons, because as already said:

We only have a photo.

The rest was spun around by people who have nothing to do with the competition and the creator.Sure, there's that one german legend about the "Großmann" who takes naughty kids to live with him, but it can literally be anything. Big monsters are scary, it's just a concept and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the Slenderman. It may also be that the bavarian Großmann has only recently existed and was only dismissed as an "old legend" in order to make the Slenderman even more popular. Similar to the "allegedly genuine" cave paintings that supposedly depict this creature. And as for the rest of the stories:

A tall man with no face is something mainstream creepy, which you can certainly dream up even in medieval times without ever having seen Slender. So it's quite possible that there are monsters that look this alike in several different cultures over the millennia, but I doubt Slenderman is an ancient creature. And that's saying something, because I believe in supernatural things. To a certain degree. Thanks for reading this short chapter I guess?
