Scope and Delimitation of the StudyThis study will explore the relationship between mental health stability and academic performance in STEM students using a phenomenological approach. The research will be conducted in AISAT College of Dasmariñas and will involve up to 10 participants per focus group selected through purposive sampling. The study aims to gain insight into how students perceive and manage mental health challenges, identify factors that influence mental stability, and explore the relationship between mental health and academic performance.
In this qualitative study, the primary resource used is the research personnel. As stated by Cresswell (2014), research instruments are data devices. An interview guide is a tool for gathering data based on study objectives. Our study uses a guide based on participants' personal experiences. Research inquiries and interviews gather data on people's mental well-being, which is validated through systematic testing with study participants. This aims to ensure trustworthy and reliable research outcomes. Ethical codes and policies are important in contemporary research.
To gather the data, depending on the participants whether individualized or focused group interviews will be employed. It will be conducted in person, as the information collected through this method is usually more accurate (Sulthan n.d). The interview will be documented and transcribed verbatim and will be translated into English by the researchers. The participants and the information they will be providing will remain confidential and will be analyzed using thematic analysis — a method of analyzing qualitative data applied to a set of texts (Caulfield, 2022). Mainly, this study aims to determine the themes through coding and to summarize them into one central theme.
