Thursday 9th September 1976

The next day was sunny and warm, perfect for the task at hand. Freddie had already arrived at Garden Lodge with his car full of stuff. There was probably everything but the kitchen sink in there, including nine cats all settled in their carry crates.

"Don't worry darlings, I'll let you out soon." He whispered as he waited for someone, anyone, to arrive.

Suddenly, the sound of tyres against gravel filled his ears and a black Volvo 262 rolled onto the drive.

"Morning Freddie!" David said cheerily as he parked up and went to join him outside.

"David my darling!" Freddie exclaimed. "How much stuff have you brought with you?"

"As much as the car would hold." David said. "Both inside and outside."

It was true. The boot was full, the backseats were full and the roof had everything imaginable tied to it.

"Wow, you really mean it too." Freddie said.

"Of course I do." David said. "Is Elton not here yet?"

"Nope." He said. "Fashionably late as always."

"Sometimes what he calls fashionably late is absolutely ridiculous to everyone else!" David laughed. "Remember when we managed to get tickets to that ABBA concert? He turned up just as it had ended!"

"We invited Rod." Freddie said. "It was really fun in the end, but not the same."

"Hey, do you hear that?"

"Mamma Mia, here I go again!" A voice sung. "My, my, how can I resist you?"

That unmistakeable pink Cadillac rolled into the drive, ABBA blaring on full volume, the driver revelling in the fact he was indeed fashionably late.

"It's Elton!" David exclaimed.

"That's my name, don't wear it out." He winked. "How are we, darlings?"

"Good, we were just talking about you." Freddie smiled. "About that time you didn't turn up to that ABBA concert you booked and we had to invite Rod instead."

"Oh shush." Elton said, going red at the mention of it. "Now, who's ready to make this house a home?"

"Me!" David exclaimed. "Freddie, let us in."

He fished the keys out of his pocket and slowly unlocked the door. David tried to get past, but he didn't get chance.

"Dibs on the biggest room!"

David bolted after him. "Come on Elt, we have to find a good room!"

"We have plenty to choose from!" Elton shouted after him, lingering back. "I think I might just stay here for a bit."

He got away with it for a maximum of seven seconds before David came back and grabbed his arm.

"Come on!" He encouraged, dragging him inside.

Though he could say otherwise until he was blue in the face, Elton needed that push. He was ever so slightly nervous; as much as he loved this new band idea, he was worried about how people would react. Not that he wanted to admit it though.
