Sunday, 5th December 1976

The next morning, Freddie was first to venture downstairs. That night had been hard for him to say the least, mostly spent in sadness, heartbreak and insecurity. Yet somehow, he'd found it within himself to leave his bed and make himself some tea.

Suddenly, the phone rang. Though he panicked at first, Freddie quickly remembered what Elton had said on the phone the night before and went to answer it.

"Hello?" He asked, sounding a little hoarse from the crying.

"Freddie!" It was Miami. "Are you alright? You sound awful."

"To be quite honest, no." Freddie admitted. "I feel like absolute shit, Jim."

"Uh oh, no nickname." Miami noticed. "What's happened?"

"It's Terry." Freddie said. "We're over."

"Oh Freddie, I'm sorry." He said. "Well, this might make you feel better. I'm feeling much better than when me and Elton last spoke and I thought you could come to EMI and we could discuss getting you three in the studio as soon as possible."

Freddie smiled a small smile. "I like the sound of that, though I'll have to speak to the others. They aren't up yet."

"Of course they aren't." Miami chuckled. "Well, the offer's always going to be there so when you get an answer just call."

"I will." He promised. "I'll go ask them now."

"I'll be waiting." Miami smiled. "See you later, Freddie."

"See you later, Miami darling." Freddie said, quickly hanging up so he could wake up his friends.

He went to find Elton first. To his surprise, when he opened the door, he was already awake.

"Morning, love." He said. "You're up early."

"As are you." Elton chuckled. "I'm surprised you didn't take today as a day to do nothing."

"Well, that was the original plan." Freddie admitted. "I'd just made some tea when Miami called. Before you ask, he's feeling much better and he wants to know if we want to go see him at EMI and discuss getting some studio time booked in."

"Oh, that's great Freddie!" Elton exclaimed. "That sounds like a lovely idea."

"So you want to go then?" Freddie asked.

"Of course!"

"Perfect." He smiled. "I just have to ask David now."

"Yes." Elton said, his heart sinking at the mention of him. "Yes, of course."

"Are you alright, darling?" Freddie asked, noticing the change in his demeanour.

"Hm?" Elton mumbled. "Oh yeah, I'm okay. Just a little dazed, that's all."

Freddie didn't stop to think it could be any more than that, though it wasn't necessarily his fault - the trio had had an exhausting few days, so in that context Elton's lie perfectly added up.

"I know love, but hopefully this will give us the boost we need." He said. "I'll be back in a few minutes."

So he left to go find David. He was still sound asleep, which was rare for him.

"Darling?" Freddie whispered, giving him a gentle shake. "Wake up."

His eyes fluttered open and he smiled when he saw it was Freddie staring back at him.

"Hello, Freddie." He said. "I'm surprised you're awake."

"Elton said the same." Freddie chuckled.

David's heart sank. He'd barely slept thinking about him and now soon enough he'd have to actually face talking to him.
