Besides the agitating voice of Ms. Matthews, the buzzing of the air conditioner was the only noise in the room. I tried my best to take notes but my uninterest for the topic made it nearly impossible. I wasn't the only one, half of the class were trying their best to scribble the rushed numbers and equations on the whiteboard and the other half were either a sleep or fighting to not fall asleep.

I wasn't stupid when it came to school work I was greatly average. Except when it came to anything with numbers, I struggled.
Statistics made me want to kill myself, but I know when playing baseball it's crucial to keep up with your stats. That's the only reason I try to pay attention in this class but its hand to do so when the teacher literally sound like a parent from the Peanuts movie.

The sudden ringing of the bell brought me sweet relief. Before I had a chance to escape Ms. Matthews got her last few words in, "Don't forget Unit 2 test is Friday please do yourselves a favor and study!"

I groan picking up my statistics textbook and headed out the door. I turn left in the direction of my locker, not even taking two steps forward I heard someone calling out for my attention.
"Hey wait!" I felt someone grab my arm pivoting me around.

I face the person, being met with a girl with beautiful bronze skin who I've never seen around before.

"It's Leo right?" she asks.
"uh yeah." I said.
"Okay, well you left your notebook in there." She says handing me my red spiral I hadn't realized was missing.

I took the notebook from her quickly noticing her silver rings on her neatly manicured nails.

"Oh thanks I didn't realize I left it." I said smiling.
She smiled as well pushing a long braid behind her ear revealing at least 3 to 4 piercings. "No problem. I'd hate for you to study without your notes."
I laugh, "Well I guess there wouldn't be any studying going on."

She giggled, "I suppose not. Even though I doubt they'd be any help, I didn't understand a single thing she was talking about."
"Don't worry I didn't either." I admitted, "She isn't the greatest at breaking it down which doesn't help when your already bad at math.
"Right!" she exclaimed. "I am struggling"

She held out her hand, "I'm Shilo by the way." I reached out and shook her hand replying, "Leo."
She bit her lip, "I don't suppose you know anyone who is available for tutoring, do you?"
She swayed slightly, the ends of her flannel moving gracefully with her. I thought, but couldn't think of anyone.
"No not off the top of my head but I'll let you know if I do." I said.

She stilled, looking a little defeated, "Oh alright,"
"Okay, thanks again for the notebook." I said. She smiled and made an effort to walk away.

"I like your rings by the way." I called out while she was still walking away. She turned quickly, her smile turning into a toothy grin then continued on her way.

I heard furious footsteps walking over in my direction, I turned quickly in time to see Maryse rushing over to me. Her short red hair flowing around her face as she stopped in front of me, Erik right behind her.

"You know that girl?" Mar asked not even bothering to say hi.
"I mean not really she just came to give me my notebook, why?"
Erik smirked, "Maryse likes her." He teased.
"OOOOOOoo" I added.

She rolled her eyes looking in the direction the girl walked in. "Shut up, I do not like her."
"Don't you?" Erik asked in an unconvinced voice.
"I've just seen her around, alright." she said.
I smiled, "But you think she's prettyyyy?"
"Of fucking course I do, you've seen her!" She exclaimed now turning toward me. "What did she say?"
