~~~Natalie's pov~~~I take a deep breath to calm my nerves as I open the door to the restaurant.
I step up to the hostess station. "Can I help you?" The woman asked.
"Yes, I'm meeting someone. The reservation should be under Nathan."
"Yes, the gentleman arrived a little while ago. Follow me" She said.
We walked towards a table that sat a very attractive blonde man. "Here we are" She said.
"Thank you."
Nathan stood up and stuck out his hand and I shook it.
"It's nice to finally meet you Natalie, I've heard great things about you" He said.
"Same here."
We sat down and engaged in small small talk until our waiter took our order.
Like most people when they're on a date I observe how they act with waiters because how they treat them can be a huge indication on how they'll treat me and he was kind to the waiter.
So far so good.
We talk about the usual life stories and I learn that he teaches 3rd graders and he's a huge outdoor person always going on hiking trips and kayaking.
He's a very kind man from what I can tell, but I'm not feeling a spark with him.
Don't get me wrong he's very attractive, he's blonde with green eyes and from what I can see he's very muscular, but my heart is with a black haired blue eyed single father.
I knew I shouldn't have agreed with Ella to start dating again.
Even though I don't feel anything for Nathan I'm having a nice time, so the date is not a total waste.
After having a good meal we end it with dessert, deciding to split it since we're both too full to eat our own dessert, we agree on a chocolate raspberry lava cake.
We both take our last bite of dessert and groan at the same time making us laugh. "That was so good."
He put his fork down. "I couldn't agree more" He said.
Our waiter came back with our check and Nathan insisted on paying the bill, I didn't argue since I don't mind if he pays or not.
After leaving the tip we walked out to our cars.
We turned towards each other on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. "I had a nice time tonight Nathan."
He smiled. "I did too, but I have to be honest with you. You're an amazing person and I had a great time with you, but I don't think I'm the person for you" He said running his hand on the back of his neck.
I let out a sigh of relief. "I feel the same way, I was worried this would go a different way."
"Me too, and honestly I'm kinda getting over my ex and this date confirmed I wasn't ready yet" He said.
"I get it. I'm in a similar boat."
"Well like I said I did enjoy our date, but I think it's better if we're just friends, and by that I mean we never speak to each other again" He chuckled.
I laughed. "Sounds good Nathan. It was nice meeting you."
"You too Natalie" He said leaning in to hug me.
After he leaves I go to my car and drive home.
I'll try to get over Declan, but right now is just not the time.
