The hour before the party took place, everyone in the palace was busy.
"Shinobu-sama! You need a new gown for the party!" Aoi said.
It was Lady Shinobu's first tea party with other noblewomen.
"Aoi-san, there's no need to fuss about it. I shall wear what I prefer." Shinobu replied gently.
The lady's closet was filled.
Looks like Aoi-san called the tailor yesterday. She sighed and picked out a frilly purple dress.
"The first guest has arrived."
A young woman with pink and green hair entered.
"Good evening, Kibutsuji-sama." She curtsied.
Lady Shinobu immediately recognized her from how Hanami described.
"Good evening, Kanroji-sama. Please, take a seat."
Lady Mitsuri carefully took a seat.
Is it her? I find her hair color very suspicious.
"If it isn't to rude of me to ask," Lady Shinobu dropped a sugar cube into her tea, "did you perhaps, dye your hair?"
Mitsuri blushed, "Ah! Of course not! It is a quite embarrassing situation but- I ate to much sakura mochi when I was younger!"
"What was your hair color like before?"
"It was pitch black."
It probably isn't her. Although Duke Kocho has pitch black hair, women born into the Kocho family typically have either a tinge of pink or purple in their hairs- Lady Kanroji got her's from sakura mochi.
In the next ten minutes, more people arrived.
There was Kamado Nezuko, Shabana Ume, Soyama Koyuki, and much more nobels.
Black hair with orange tip, white hair, black hair, brown hair, red hair, black hair, black hair, blue hair- No purple or pink tinted!
"Sorry to bother you all," Lady Shinobu got impatient, "but have any of you ever considered dyeing you hair?"
The room went silent.
Lady Ume broke the silence. "Have you no respect? Of course I wouldn't! It is ungraceful for a lady to dye their hair!"
"Ume-sama-" Lady Nezuko began, but was soon cut off.
"You know that I prefer to be called 'Daki'."
Nezuko looked exasperated. "Daki-sama, do not be rude. I know we are quite close, but this is a tea party. And it was merely a question."
Lady Koyuki spoke up, "I wouldn't. It would ruin my reputation if anyone found out."
"Exactly," Lady Nakime exclaimed.
"Well, I am sorry for my rudeness." Shinobu quickly apologized.
"Not to worry," Lady Makomo smiled. She then winked at the hostess and said, "Say, are you all engaged?"
"Yes, yes!" Koyuki exclaimed, "Hakuji-san! He's very sweet!"
Lady Daki grimaced, "Not yet. Geez, that Kocho lady really stole my man!"
"Kanao-sama is perfect for my dear brother. Please do not complain, Ume- Daki-sama." Lady Nezuko sighed, "And I cannot chose between Tokito-san or Agatsuma-san!"
Lady Shinobu was grateful that Lady Makomo had helped her change the subject. But that feeling didn't last too long. Soon all eyes were turned to her.
"Kibutsuji-sama, what about you?" Lady Mitsuri asked.
