Delilah's bare feet ripped into the ground as she ran from her life. Her Father had started rigorous training with her and her twin brother after their mother's demise. The King had hoped to strengthen his children immensely so that he did not have to feel the pain of loss ever again.

Xavier had agreed and had even been excited to start his training, but everything was not as it seemed. The King had started to put them through pain they had never felt before, he said it was the only way to harden their souls. Xavier and Delilah had become obsessions to their father, children that were too powerful and children that would become immortal.

Delilah had been released from her training room for supper with her father and her brother, but before the guards could even register what she was doing, she had disappeared. Delilah had taken off down hallway after hallway, running as if she were in a race. The King had moved them into a more secure building behind the castle that he had burnt to the ground, Delilah was still learning her way around the too big a house.

The Guards shouted behind her in astonishment as the nine-year old girl ran for her freedom. She turned a corner and was met with a dead end. Her heart raced in fear as she looked around the surroundings. There were two doors to the left side of her and only one on the right side. It was then that she noticed a window high up on the wall to the left, she had thought it to be a painting.

Delilah sprang into action as the sound of her Guards grew close. She ran to the first door on her left and opened the door, only to find a plain bathroom. She growled in frustration and slammed the door, hurriedly making her way to the next door. The Guards had just turned the corner as she reefed open the next door, which thankfully, led to outside.

The Guards were shocked at the sudden disappearance of their Princess, having been given strict orders not to let her out of their sight. The two Guards had looked at each other in utter confusion until their ears finally started to pick up that of their surroundings. Small feet pattered fast down hallways to their right and they took off after her.

Each step the Guards took, the Princess had taken 20. The Guards pulled superhuman strength into their legs to push them faster towards the future Queen. As they approached the last hallway they knew would lead to a dead end, they heard the frustrated growl of their young Princess. They turned the corner and their eyes landed on the angry pup, who was pushing her way through a door that led to the outside world.

Delilah rushed through the door and her feet met with soft moss filled forest floor. She did not give herself the moment of happiness however, as the Guards shouted for her to stop. Delilah pushed herself into another desperate run towards the thick shrubbery that surrounded the house. Her heart hammered inside her chest, fear enveloping her entire being at having to face her father in "training."

The first day that Delilah and Xavier had started their training, their father had tied them to a metal surgical table and pushed all kinds of liquids and metals into them. The twin's throats had become raw by the end of the day and their minds had been broken beyond repair.

Did our father not love us anymore? The thought had crossed both the children's minds as their father maimed his own children, willing them to be stronger. Delilah had been the one to withstand the torture the longest, her brother giving in only after a few hours. Xavier had never been the strongest out of the twins, but Delilah never used that against her brother.

Delilah ran through the forest as twigs and sharp rocks ripped her feet apart. Stray branches smacked her face and exposed arms as she sped through them. Little dots of blood rose to the surface of her skin. Her favourite yellow dress she had not been changed out of was being ripped apart, but she did not care. Her mother was no longer there to love her favourite dress anyway.
