10 YEARS LATER

DELILAH

I felt the raw power of my being flow through my veins. I sat in the middle of an open field behind the cabin I now live in, my legs crossed over each other and concentrating on being able to create an illusion of myself before me. I felt a piece of my soul break off as I willed it to sit opposite me. The power that flooded my being subsided a bit as the piece of my soul settled on the ground in front of me with grace.

I have been practicing this spell for two years now, never being able to quite get it. At the ripe age of 19 years, I have so much yet to accomplish. I have trained with my Aunt Mayvis for the past decade, hoping to grow strong enough to defeat my father. My brother also if the Gods will it.

The night Mayvis had carried me to her cabin, I had exhausted myself that much that I slept for three days and three nights. Only waking on the fourth day to the smell of bacon, my hunger trumping my body's will to sleep. That day, Mayvis had started to teach me about all the different types of creatures in the world, ones that I had knew clue existed. She taught me the best ways to kill each one, as she had to defend herself and my mother when they were but children also.

My heart skipped a beat as I opened my eyes and saw a mirror reflection of myself. That was the teller of illusions, the illusions were always mirrored to the caster. I leapt up and called for my Aunt, who had started to hide herself in the cabin a lot recently. Aunt Mayvis peaked her head out of a window that led out from the kitchen inside.

"Well done, little one! It looks amazing! You finally got the hang of it I see." I could hear my Aunt clap her hands from inside the kitchen. My beasts hearing was quite exceptional, compared to a regular wolf's. I had transitioned at age 10 with my Aunt Mayvis beside me. Having gone through the excruciating pain herself, she had prepared herself for what was to come with me. However, my Aunt was not at all prepared for what I was to become.

Aunt Mayvis told me that she had never seen a beast so tall before, or the colour that I was. Despite my hair being a shade of black, my beast's fur was as white as freshly fallen snow. My eyes stayed the same in both forms, a beautiful bright green that I had my mother to thank for. At the same time as I had transitioned into my wolf, another part of my subconscious had awoken, something dark and sinister had revealed itself and Aunt Mayvis had admitted she had been terrified of me.

I was in complete control of my beast, much to my aunt's surprise. She had told me that my wolf may want to speak with me after I had transformed, but we had discovered that I was one in the same as the wolf I could shift into. The darkness that had appeared, was not the same case, however. I could feel it's craving for blood; I could feel its talons scraping the back of my mind.

A few days after I had transformed, another part of me decided to awaken, and that had shaken my Aunt Mayvis to the core. Magic flowed through my body, the colour of blue skies and white clouds had danced across my arms as I watched my body yet again go through another experience of change. I had passed out from the sudden intake of magic and when I had finally awoken, my Aunt Mayvis was intrigued to find my eyes two different colours. My left being a bright piercing blue, and the other being my loving bright green of my mothers.

I stood and faced the cabin, my illusion withering away as I willed it. My steps were long strides and confident. I had gained muscle over the years as my Aunt trained in me in many forms of combat. My body had grown into that of a young woman, with curves that were shaped in similar ways to my mother.

I stalked towards the cabin, a sudden hunger bursting from my stomach. I had not eaten that morning, I was too distracted trying to accomplish this particular spell. I opened the door to the cabin and wiped my feet of dirt before entering.
