Delilah

I heard them snap. The pain that came with it was no doubt immeasurable. I looked into his eyes as I forced his wrists to break. Effectively letting me go. I took a few steps back as rage overshadowed Ryker's features.

"I told you to let me go, and you didn't listen!" I yelled as his rage filled eyes met mine. My heart thumped as his wrists snapped back into place and he began to advance towards me. I stood my ground, remembering all the martial arts my Aunt had taught me over the years, and the pain my father had inflicted on my brother and me.

"X-Xav? Brother?" I whimpered out as the door to our room shut. I turn my head as much as I can to get even a small glimpse of my twin. His red curls stuck to his skin as he breathed heavily. His arms scattered in little cuts and bruises.

"De, I'm okay. Don't worry about me." I did worry. He sounded as though he was fighting back tears. I tried to turn my head some more to be able to see his face, but the bind that they had strapped my head to the table with prevented me from moving anymore. Tears ran down my face as frustration was all I could feel.

I was so frustrated and angry at my father for what he had done. Xavier was not the strongest boy alive, but he was my brother and I had to protect him. I would be the one to get us out of there.

"De, when you have the chance. Run. Run like you've never run before. Run until you can't breathe anymore, get away from here." Xavier whispered in my direction. More tears flooded my face and I tried to shake my head no. I couldn't leave him; he was my other half. I struggled against the binding they had over my head as I fought to look at Xavier.

"Please De, I'll be okay. I need you to be safe." These words tore through Delilah. Only spoken by a nine-year-old, but somehow, sounded like he was a wise old man. I stopped struggling as my tears wouldn't stop. The world grew blurred and disfigured as I slumped against the table. I didn't want to leave my brother. Not ever.

I snapped back to reality as the footsteps of Ryker sounded around the small space we were in. I glared toward the Alpha as he made his way to me.

"A Princess you may be, but you have not been to the palace in many years. Would that still make you royalty I wonder?" Ryker questioned as he continued his advance toward me.

I bent my legs a little and stood in a defensive stance, ready to protect myself from this stranger. For I no longer knew him as the sweet young boy who was best friends with my twin.

A fist came flying toward my head and I easily ducked. At the same time, I swung upwards, knocking him fair in the jaw. Ryker stumbled back a step and growling menacingly. He rolled his shoulders and advanced again, this time, trying to knock me off balance. I dodged every kick he threw at my legs and every punch he threw at my upper body. He was quite tall so dodging his punches was easy enough.

As a precaution, I quickly threw up a barrier spell my Aunt had taught me when I was 11. It prevented anybody from leaving the area and anybody from getting in. I didn't want the risk of one of his comrades sneaking up on me.

"Okay, little one! Imagine a clear, giant force field surrounding the cabin. Imagine it being made from the toughest material, so that no man or beast could pass through it." My Aunt Mayvis called from the doorway of the cabin. I stood a few feet in front of the house with my eyes closed, focusing on the image she had asked me to conjure.

I felt pins and needles as my power flowed through my limbs, pushing a barrier out around the cabin. I struggled to get it past the cabin door, but I pushed and pushed before I had given up. I Had to train more to be able to push it further.
