Unlike love, Jermy can actually define hurt. It's just what he is feeling right now. The excruciating amount of pain mixed with an air of melancholy. He felt gloomy, dreary, blue, glum, numb, unhappy, heart sick, dejected, low, and kinda surprised about his developed English vocabulary.
He liked her.
He loved Katie.
At Least that's what he told himself.
And he promised himself that he would never think of those black eyes. It wasn't easy. Moving on was never easy and he had the most twisted moving-on mechanisms. And for instance, he decided to go for a different girl. And there enters Pierson, looking almost similar to Katie. He never noticed that though. All he wanted to ever notice was the non-existing pureness of Pierson.
Andrew was right next to him, actively encouraging him to go for that girl as if he really meant those words. And now, Jermy has to figure out what actually makes his heart heavy. And just like any other day, he refuses the obvious. HE was hurting FOR KATIE and only KATIE. And Andrew has no part in this twisted fantasy.
And friends help us to move on.
In twisted ways.
And that's the reason he never questioned Andrew as he sucked at his pulse point under his ear while babbling about his sexual frustration with his girlfriend. Andrew was not lying, all he did was imagine him as his girlfriend. Jermy chanted this lie again and again till his brain registered it as the truth. Unfortunately, that lie did not help his grieving heart. A large part of it screamed Katie's name and a small part chanted Andrew's name.
Friends do that.
Marking each other, every friend does that.
