Andrew moved away from him and Jermy did nothing to stop him. He no longer felt the pain, he felt numb and that's for the good, he thought. Ben animatedly explained to him about the anime that he watched recently and he found himself nodding. Andrew left a void in him and Ben was filling it up without knowing. Jermy was thankful to have Ben in his life. The only way he could define Ben was as colors. Ben was those colors that he thought were once lost.
Ben was an enthusiast and Jermy tagged along with him, teaching housewives to use laptops and helping kids to perfect English. Ben taught him a lot of things like how to hack Netflix accounts, how socialists are better than communists, and how Jermy liking Andrew was normal. Jermy learned as much as he could and tried to understand why he liked Andrew, but never found answers.
Ben took him to a pride parade and Jermy was never more grateful to Ben. He smiled at him as Ben held his hand and they jumped up and down to Taylor Swift's 'YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN'.
Jermy never laughed this much since everything. He felt light as he felt Andrew fading into his memories. The memories were crystal clear, but they no longer hurt, they were just memories like every other memory he had.
He loved Andrew, but he no longer did.
He wanted to let his soul free from the cage called Andrew and he felt its success when Ben smiled at him and he smiled back.
Andrew never once held his hand, but Ben did. He wanted the world to see him, he wanted the world to know how happy he was when Ben held him. He also wished that Andrew met someone like Ben. He wanted Andrew to be as well.
Every thought blurred out when Ben tightened his hold around his wrist. He smiled with his cheek brimming with pinks. Ben smiled back. It was precious, Ben was precious and Jermy wanted to hold him forever.
"Can we try being more than friends?" Jermy shouted over the music and Ben's smile widened. There they were, in the middle of the concert, breaking their friendship to be something that they both desired. Ben said nothing, but his silence felt comforting, his silence answered the questions he asked. Ben's arms around him felt warm, made him want to live again, and made him feel full.
Made him take risks and try things.
They were no longer friends, they were dating.
