don't you notice?

INTERVIEWER : Tell us about The Six's first tour?

EDDIE : Not my favorite part.

WARREN : I enjoyed it as it should be. I was the drummer of the band after all!

KAREN : In short, all the boys fucked whoever they wanted.

MARIA : No need to mention the day I caught a certain bass player with a blonde in bed, half-naked. I had walked through the wrong hotel door and did my best to hide the frown on my face.

EDDIE : The gap was growing between us.

MARIA : Can't get someone's attention if they don't see you the way you do? So you move on, hoping the crush will fade away.

KAREN : We didn't have a new person in our bed every day, but. . . Maria and I also did what we wanted, with whom we wanted, or not. We were sexy women, remember?

MARIA : Basically, it was: sex and drugs. That's all it was.

KAREN : A rollercoaster.

MARIA : Without even noticing it, I was slowly sinking.

BILLY : Maria wasn't the only one who was sinking. I was going to be a father. And everything I did was not exemplary. No need to go into details.

GRAHAM : The gigs went on and on and we all started to get on edge, Billy could barely keep up with the show.

WARREN : We still had some shows to do, and we wondered how much longer we would last.

EDDIE : One night, after a concert, I remember talking to Maria. It was like a sudden urge to break the ice. And then with Billy. . . who was no longer in control, I wanted to have one less problem on my mind. So I could sleep more peacefully at night.

MARIA : I was smoking my cigarette, sitting on the sidewalk. I was watching the people walking in front of me with my dull eyes.

EDDIE : I asked her softly, "Can I talk to you?" She looked up at me and nodded nonchalantly with a shrug. Then I sat down next to her.

MARIA : There was a heavy silence between the two of us. I could just hear his lighter light up and his lungs fill with smoke before I heard him say, "Do you have a problem with me?

EDDIE : She turned her eyes to me with a frown. "No," she answered me curtly.

MARIA : At first, I had no idea what he was talking about. I felt assaulted, so I answered him, with claws. He took another drag on his cigarette, "Then why are you avoiding me?" he asked me. I remember almost choking on my drink. I mean, who did he think he was? The center of the world? What a nerve!

EDDIE : Apparently, I had upset her. Because she rolled her eyes and giggled ironically.

MARIA : I wasn't mad at him. . . Or maybe a little? No. I was mad at myself. To feel things for someone who didn't even seem to notice me. So yes, from the beginning I was avoiding him. To protect myself.

EDDIE : Almost swallowing her saliva, she spat out these few words, "Don't you notice?" she said, turning her eyes to me. A twinkle in her eye. But all I replied to her was none other than, "Notice what?"

MARIA : It was hard to pretend not to feel the way I feel. I mean every time. . . He smiled and all I could think was. . . oh shit.

EDDIE : I felt that the atmosphere changed in a split second. A palpable tension. It disappeared immediately when Warren called us to join them, breaking that moment when I had. . . noticed it. The light shining in her eyes.

INTERVIEWER : Well. . . What happened after all that?

WARREN : Chaos.

GRAHAM : Billy went to rehab.

KAREN : Technically, we were no longer a group, but we still hung out. All of us. Except Billy. . . and Maria.

MARIA : I just disappeared.

BILLY : She returned to LA.
