Leigh's P.O.V

"Hey, my name's Jessie. I don't think I've seen you around before." As soon as the redhead speaks, I instantly know what he's up to. The look in his eye, and the way he stands so close to me without caring...yep. I've met guys like him. And remember my rule? Plan: Mute.

I just give him a curious look and nod. He waits another second for me to speak, but I never do. His eyebrows furrow for a second. I think it's working.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" Jessie asks, throwing a hand in the air. I begin to panic slightly at his angry-annoyed tone and just shake my head.

I turn quickly around Jessie and just make my way back to the desk next to neighbor-boy—Who I am still surprised told me to sit next to him. But I am thankful. Makes my job easier.

I see neighbor-boy smirking, and turn to see that he's looking at Jessie, who sends a glare back at him. Drama...

I sit down at the desk, setting my backpack and clarinet case down next to me. I don't really have a book or anything for this class, nor do I know what they're currently working on. And I am too nervous to get out one of my books and start reading to kill time. So I just sit here, nervously playing with my hands as I wait on the teacher.

"So, you're mute now?" Neighbor-boy asks.

I turn to him, shaking my head. "No. He just gave me a bad feeling." I say, crinkling my eyes at the thought. "And he's really tall."

Knox's P.O.V

I raise a brow, "I'm taller than he is and you didn't seem scared of me." She seems to think about that for a second. This girl is odd.

"Well...you're more kinder-eyed than he is. Although you weren't very kind in the hallway this morning." The way she says it, I can tell it got to her at least a tiny bit. I frown lightly at the end of her sentence.

I surprise myself by the words that come out of my mouth next. "Sorry...about that. My friends just really pissed me off right before you ran into me."

Butterfly nods. "Thank you for the apology, because I was half tempted to fight you in the hall." I find myself grinning and even laughing at her. So she's funny. Like she could fight me- wait a damn second. Did she call me kind-eyed? What the fuck?

Leigh's P.O.V

Suddenly, the final bell rings and the teacher walks in. She's a tall lady dressed in bright colors and jewelry, blonde hair pulled up into a tight bun. Alrighty.

"Alright, everyone, please get out a pencil and a sheet of paper. Also, open your books to page 106." The teacher speaks. Please don't make me ask you for a book, lady. I barely made it here alive.

I am relieved but also terrified when the teacher turns to me next. "And, please say hi to our new student, Kimimela-Leigh. Do you go by a specific name, dear?"

I nod, "Leigh is fine." The teacher gives me a smile, nodding.

"Well I'll be damned, she speaks." Jessie says, making his friends laugh. I just shake my head, flipping through the book Mrs. Karter has just set on my desk. People need to get a life.

Class officially starts a minute later, and that's when I realize this class is basically just a bunch of lecturing and notes. And I already know how to do what she's currently teaching. I learned it in Physical Science my freshman year. I think everyone else did too because no ones paying attention to her.
