Basically, their universe is the opposite of ours... so mermaids and sea monsters exist while humans are just fictional creatures, and because there are a lot of land animals they have yet to discover, I changed words containing these names (eg. sheepish → seepish because they don't know about sheep's existence)

-Merman(s) (pron. 'mər'-min) : what the mermaids call their own species, opposite of "human(s)"
-Lonlass/sometimes lonlad (pron. 'län'-lass) : what they call humans, opposite of what we call "mermaids/mermen"
