Shiina Hiyori
"Where... am I?"
Blinking in confusion, I took in the surroundings before me. I found myself in a peculiar room, eerily reminiscent of the one I inhabited before entering ANHS. However, that shouldn't be possible since ANHS strictly prohibits any outside contact, meaning there was no way I could be at home right now.
As I gathered my thoughts, two possibilities came to mind:
This was a dream.
I had been kidnapped by someone with the uncanny ability to transport me to an alternate universe.
The second option might seem far-fetched, but... I've encountered such scenarios in fan-fiction before, so you can't blame me for considering it, right?
Growing increasingly anxious, I noticed that the door was securely locked from the outside.
"This has to be a dream, right?" I murmured, my voice trembling as I abandoned my futile attempts to force the door open.
With no other options, I hesitantly decided to examine the rest of the room. The familiar yet unsettling atmosphere made my heart race, and a sense of unease crept over me as I tried to make sense of this bewildering situation.
"Hiyori."
As I was in the middle of examining the room, which, to my utmost pleasure, had plenty of books from a myriad of genres in it, a powerful, almost ethereal voice spoke.
"Hello?" I replied, still confused about this entire ordeal.
"I apologize for taking you away without warning," the apparition spoke, sounding almost sheepish. "But a friend told me it would be a funny idea to have you review something for us."
It really was weird hearing a voice without a tangible body. It was as if I was communicating telepathically with someone other than my inner self.
But... surprisingly enough, I no longer felt anxious or scared of this entire ordeal.
Instead, the words of the apparition made me curious.
Review?
"What would you have me review, and why do you and your friend think it'd be a funny idea?" I curiously asked.
...
The silence remained for what seemed like an hour before the apparition spoke again, this time sounding a little embarrassed.
"It's rather juvenile, so we'd rather have you figure it out on your own," he replied. "But for what you're going to review..."
He trailed off as if pretending to be the host of some reality TV show that was announcing which of the participants made the cut.
"How would you feel if you found out that in another universe, you're a character in a Light Novel series?"
... What?
That... would be so cool!
I wonder what things I've done in that world.
Would Ayanokōji-kun also be a character in that story?
But... there's also the possibility that I didn't get a good ending in that story, so I suppose I should hold back my glee.
"It depends on the story. Am I a beloved character there?" I asked, smiling at no one in particular. I simply liked to imagine that I was talking to some AI-robot who was sitting in front of me.
I giggled to myself.
That would be quite the sight if it happened.
"Beloved would be an understatement, Hiyori. People who are fans of the series LOVE you."
