"I hope everyone has reviewed the guidebook and remembered everything, particularly the items listed in the 'not allowed' section. Our readership could suffer if any of you, even accidentally, utter any of those lines," said a blonde-haired boy with glasses, his voice firm yet smooth. The sun glinted off his spectacles, underscoring the importance of his words.
The boy, who insisted on being called "Director," stood at an imposing height of 185 cm. He was positioned behind a polished mahogany podium, addressing five individuals:
Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, a brown-haired, brown-eyed boy with a near-permanent impassive expression that belied the occasionally surprising words he spoke. A subtle air of intrigue surrounded him, drawing others in despite his stoic demeanor.
Horikita Suzune, a raven-haired girl with captivating gradient red eyes that seemed to smolder with intensity. Although her frosty exterior earned her the title of "Ice Queen," there was no denying her breathtaking beauty, which captivated the attention of many in the school.
Horikita Manabu, a dark-haired, violet-eyed bespectacled boy who was the current Student Council President of Advanced Nurturing High School. Brother to Suzune, Horikita Manabu had a hard time expressing his honest feelings, which was the leading factor to his estranged relationship with his little sister.
Nagumo Miyabi, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy who served as the Student Council Vice President. Known for his irresistible charm and charisma, he had captured the hearts of many of the school's most attractive girls.
Ichinose Honami, a pink-haired, blue-eyed girl who was initially the sole first-year member of the Student Council until Kiyotaka and Suzune were also appointed for plot convenience. Her striking beauty combined with her warm, approachable personality had made her the most popular girl in the school.
"I have a question, Director," Manabu interjected, his voice calm yet earnest as he raised his hand.
Director inclined his head. "What is it, Manabu?"
"Why are we prohibited from showing vulnerability or heartbreak? While I understand the principles of stoicism, wouldn't opting for indifference feel unnatural if, for example, the scene required us to exhibit such emotions?" Manabu inquired, his brows furrowing in confusion.
"Would you prefer to be ridiculed and called a 'clown' in the comment section, Manabu?" Director asked, a single eyebrow raised in challenge. "Remember, we are dealing with a reader base of 14-year-old incels who listen to Andrew Tate. If it doesn't fit their narrative of what a "cool badass" is supposed to do, you're a clown."
Miyabi let out a soft chuckle. "You certainly have a way with words, Director."
"It is what it is, Miyabi," Director replied, a slight shrug of his broad shoulders. "Now, back to Manabu... do you understand the points I've made?"
Manabu nodded solemnly. "I do, but I would like to express my concerns about this specific rule. Why should we cater to these readers' whims?"
"Because we need a readership, Manabu," Director answered before turning his attention to the others. "Any other questions?"
Suzune's hand shot up; her eyes narrowed with determination.
"What's on your mind, Suzune?"
"Why am I not allowed to hit Ayanokouji-kun if he's acting stupid?" Suzune questioned.
"Because they read the stories pretending they are Kiyotaka, and since they hate your guts already, we can't have that hatred being aggravated due to your desire to hit him," Director replied, exhaling a resigned sigh.
