I've been sitting here for hours. Hours upon hours. Hours waiting for someone to save me from the darkness I've been living in. I've been told I look like a monster... it's never really hurt me, I just wanna be alone. But I truly don't want to be alone, I just hate being alone with my thoughts. The kind of thoughts that will drive you insane.
I'm in a mad house and I can't get out, I hear screaming during the night... and wake up to it stopping and nurses running to my room.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm the real mad house and I'm trapped inside myself. The only way out is through my dreams. Now, don't get me wrong when I tell you this, but in my sleep... I can visit this mystical place. It's like a different planet. It's name is Osyndus, it's like all beautiful, magical stories combined.
Osyndus... is my home, there are only a couple people there, but it's better than this hell I live in. I have yet to talk to anyone there.
One time I tried to tell this girl Katie to go.
///
I walked up to the side of her hospital bed. Her straight, shoulder length, midnight black hair laying perfect and peacefully around her head.
Katie was a beautiful 14 year old, I've been told that her heart is pure, and her smile is as bright as the sun. She had come to the hospital when she was 11, and she was my only company.
As I sit down next to her like I usually do when I come and visit her, I was struggling to know where to begin.
"Katie," I started. I stared down at my hands in my lap, they were fumbling nervously. "I-I," I swallowed, "Katie, there is this place that I can visit in my dreams. You can come too! I want to meet you, please come to Osyndus. Please, Katie I need someone, I need someone that I can stand," I think I begged her for about a half an hour.
I got up and walked to the door, but before leaving I sensed something weird, so turned in the door frame and looked at her. I then left the room and as soon as I turned the corner... I heard the beeping that is stuck in my head. The now the all too familiar footsteps of nurses running to help.
It was my fault she died. It was my fault my only friend was gone.
//
I vowed to never speak of it to anyone again... just in fear that I would kill anyone.
All of a sudden a creaking noise that pierced my ears came from the door and I hissed. "Serendipity, your meal is here," the jolly old nurse came in. But I stood still... not wanting to make a movement.
The poor nurse sighed, and I honestly felt horrible to ignore her... but either way I would hurt her, and I'd prefer it this way.
Once the nurse leaves, I crawl carefully to the tray and start devouring the food, it was only bread and soup... but I was starving. I was half way through my food when the door creaked open again and the light blinded me. I squint to see who is, and it's the mean woman who owns this crazy town.
"How are you Serendipity?" The prudent woman asks. And I start my usual plead to her, as I do every night. "I swear I'm not crazy, please get me out of here. I'm not like them, I swear to it!" I cried.
"Now, now, Serendipity. You are here for a reason. And we will not be releasing you anytime soon. You are lucky to be here," she'd state flatly. Then she spun on her heel, shut the door, and left me in a crying mess.
