REAL LIFE! — 🍰
last period on a monday was hell if chris was being completely honest. hell also translated to mr smith's business class, which, for someone unknown reason, always seemed to drag.
chris could've sworn the hand on the wall clock had been pointing to the 11 for an hour now, and he was itching to leave. if mr smith uttered the word profit one more time, the pen in chris' hand was going to be aimed directly at the teacher's head.
you see, instead of listening to mr smith, or doing the work that went towards his final grade at the end of the year, chris has been devising a plan. he often was, and most times it revolved around the same person.
evangeline wickes.
the class was completely silent, and chris had to hold a hand in front of his mouth to stifle a giggle, as he thought about how jackson harris was an actual idiot for coming up with that bet. he was so going to last more than 2 weeks talking to the girl! it was just a question of how he would get evangeline to be willing enough to step into the prom venue attached to his arm.
chris tapped his pen on the worksheet, his eyes fixated on the world outside their stuffy business classroom; his plan was perfectly crafted, in his opinion, and as it had done for the past hour, chris found his mind wandering back to said plan.
once the bell rang, chris would pack his shit away at a record speed, and sprint to the lockers in the lower foyer of the school. it was there that he would lean against evangeline wickes' locker, pretending as if the whole ordeal was a complete accident, and then test his flirting on her with a conversation about the events of saturday night.
that was another reason jackson was an idiot for creating this bet — he had no idea what had happened on the porch swing at mason's place. chris still stood by the fact that if she could fall for him so easily in the space of 10 minutes, then getting her to go to prom with him would be a piece of cake. that $20 was his.
he did actually want to talk to evangeline about saturday, y'know, check if she was alright. surprising as it may seem, chris did actually care about her — seeing people go through panic attacks in front of you, and knowing you caused it? not the greatest feeling.
he also felt he needed to test the waters with his flirting skills; find out what pissed evangeline off, and use it against her, just as he did with her last name.
if evangeline turned down his promposal, or similar, there was a high chance of jackson making fun of chris for the rest of their friendship. he had to prove harris wrong, but, chris would be getting nowhere if he was unsure of how to even start flirting with the girl.
okay, sure, chris had already been bold before — the way he'd spoken to her in the car last tuesday being a perfect example. oh, and he couldn't forget the entire interaction at mason's party. yet still, chris felt as if he didn't really know evangeline.
