REAL LIFE! — 🍓
"first house party then?" alice pulled the subaru to a stop outside mason's house, turning in her seat to face annie and faye who had both opted to sit in the back — for support reasons.
"faye's first house party. not mine." annie corrected alice, shuddering as she remembered the disaster that had been lucas' birthday a few months back.
the last house party she'd been to had ended with lucas holding her hair back as she lay by the toilet, throwing up the rum and lemonade concoction. faye had been invited to that horror show, but, as if she could predict the future, had turned the invite down, using an unfinished art project as an excuse.
faye fiddled with the zip on her jacket. "i feel sick. i don't want to go in."
"awh, cmon faye." annie patted her friend on the shoulder, a sympathetic look washing over her face. "don't bail on me now."
truth was, annie was probably more nervous than faye. lucas was going to be in there, most likely drunk, which, in turn, meant loud and raucous.
annie was also going to have to put up with chris sturniolo, who had seemingly decided that she would be his next talking stage — something she was not condoning to. she couldn't bare to look at the smug grin that plastered his face 24/7 for one minute longer; just the mere thought of him made anger rise up her throat, leaving a sour taste.
faye's worried tone brought annie back to reality. "i'm not bailing. house parties aren't fun if you're not drinking or getting stoned."
"you're not drinking?"
"no..." faye frowned at her sister. "you know i don't drink, alice."
alice reciprocated the furrowed brow, her whole body now swivelled in order to see the two younger girls in all their panicked glory. "not even one vodka shot?"
"not even one vodka shot." faye repeated her sister, before gesturing towards annie. "i'm having my first drink with her, at a club, on my 21st birthday; i have it all planned out."
annie grinned, focusing her attention out the car window as she observed mason's house — or, correction, big fucking mansion. faye and alice's bickering faded into the background, annie's eyes scanning the hints of the house party visible from where alice had parked on the street opposite.
a red hue was cast across the large driveway from the LED lighting within, silhouettes stencilled against the arched windows. brent faiyaz was clearly playing on the loudspeaker from inside, his voice swirling around the car, muffling faye and alice as they continued their argument.
